Absolutely love this studio. The instructors are excellent, very thorough and conscientious of modifications needed for injuries. Additionally, I needed to make changes to my membership and was met with such flexibility on those changes. Overall, 5 out of 5 and would highly recommend for Pilates lovers!!

I could write a novel, but I’ll try to keep it short. I was born with so many joint issues, and have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the majority of my spine and both hips at 33. I have also had three children, and my diastasis recti was a four finger width separation. It was suggested to me by professionals and friends to start Pilates, so I did the next day. I had never done anything like Pilates, so I opted to do 3 private lessons with Kaitlin to get me started on the right foot…best decision ever. I loved my one on one time with Kaitlin. She was able to assess me and told me exactly what I needed to modify durning group classes, and cleared me right away for 1.5 level classes. After my private sessions were over I decided to join with the unlimited plan. It has been right at 4 months for me and I’ll be completing my 100th class in a week! My diastasis recti is down to 2 fingers, and my chiropractor said he’s never seen me look better joint wise in the 10 years he’s been seeing me. I am so happy I joined the Club Pilates family! Absolutely love the whole team, and all the lovely ladies I have met along the way.

I joined Club Pilates with the goal of completing the initial 3 month contract. I’m now 50 classes and four months in and I’m hooked. The accolades I could give are numerous, but I’ll give three. 1) I LOVE the instructors. They are amazing, knowledgeable, helpful, and so very kind. They have put in the work to know the ins and outs of how your musculoskeletal is configured, and it shows. Every workout is a challenge and they give options if you need to take it slower or have the space to give a little more. 2) My body is stronger and more flexible. I was under the impression that I might not ever be able to do the kinds of workouts I’d grown up doing and therefore I would never be successful at gaining that strength I once had. It’s amazing how Pilates has squashed that notion. 3) This is a place for all ages, levels, sizes, and genders. Pilates is truly a lifelong exercise that is easy on your joints and makes your muscles work. You will not regret it!

I absolutely love Club Pilates (Abilene). I’ve attended over 80 classes so far and have never had a bad experience. Each instructor is highly trained. There is consistency across the board.I started attended at the urging of a friend that had been doing Pilates in another city, as well as my physical therapist recommending it to me post therapy for a bulging lumbar disc (I could barely walk when I started therapy). The instructors always asks at the beginning of class of anyone has any injuries or needs any modifications, which I used for a little while. Then, I got strong enough to no longer need the modification. My lower back, as well as my neck and shoulders (too many hours working at the computer) are strong and flexible now. I can work longer hours at my desk without having pain. The staff is incredibly friendly and genuinely supportive. I’m hooked and will continue to go so I can live a healthy, active lifestyle.

So. Since I've had several friends ask about my Pilates experience, I'll give you my experience with Club Pilates. This Pilates club uses a Pilate machine, which I thought would be perfect for helping me stretch my muscles and not over work me because of my Myasthenia gravis. The Health plan I have covers Gym membership, and since I've been wanting to try Pilates for ages, I decided to try this Club. I signed up for an introduction lesson and off I went. I had a good experience, the trainer seemed nice and answered questions. I did tell the trainer I had MG, and she said let her know if I needed any help. I told her I might need to go a little slower. The class went well and I signed up.A week later I returned for my first class, excited to see the same instructor. As with any new program I knew it would probably take me a bit to learn the ropes.Class started and I was pretty quickly lost. It's similar to dance moves on the machine and I had to listen closely to her directions and try to properly position myself. Quickly. I kept getting lost and had to ask for assistance a couple times. After asking her to speak up (over the music), I decided to sit and watch the others and jump in as I could (and I knew I was disrupting the class). So I'm sitting watching, and the trainer comes over and ASKS what's wrong. I said, well I'm just frustrated because I can't keep up and hear you well. I'm okay, I just need to sit and watch. Long story short, (i know, too late) she asks me to LEAVE the class so she can talk to me, I said I'm okay, just say what you need. She insisted I come out of the class. She then proceeds to chew me out for disrupting the class and asking too many questions. The manager comes out and asks what's up. She tells her what's happened, complaining that I'm stressing out the class. At this point, I stepped outside the building to keep my calm (yes, I did!).The mgr comes out, says she'll look into what happened, tries to make nice. I leave, after not hearing back and after several phone calls, she finally talks to me and says, yes the CLASS said I was frustrated (I said that!) and says they can't accommodate a slow learner, and her only solution is $80/hr private lessons. The manager said, she did not single you out, I said, when you ask someone to leave the class, what would you call that? And, how am I supposed to learn, if I can't ask questions? No apology, just took up for her employee. She agreed, that she didn't know how I was supposed to ask questions during class.I had actually considered going back, but have decided not to give them my insurance money for poor customer service, and totally embarrassing me in front off the class. OMG. Definitely did not lower my stress. So, now I'm going to try Hendricks Health Club. Group lessons are included in my health plan, and it's $35 to get a private lesson.I'll keep you posted how it goes.

If you decide to sign up with Club Pilates, be sure to read the fine print so you don't feel like you were scammed like I was. I would not recommend this place simply for their policies.
