Crunch Fitness - Alameda offers a range of modern fitness equipment in a clean and upbeat environment. Located in South Shore Center, the gym provides a variety of membership packages to suit different needs and budgets. With a welcoming atmosphere and positive energy from both staff and members, it's a good place to start or continue your fitness journey. However, it often gets crowded, especially during peak hours, which can affect workout efficiency.
While the trainers and staff are generally helpful, some members have had negative experiences with membership cancellation and management. For a small space, the gym maintains good organization but could benefit from more squat racks to meet high demand. Despite these issues, many users find good value in its offerings for the price.

Worst experience!! If ypu dont pay the personal trainers you wont be able to use anything. They just keep all the things reserver for their clients. I left the gym and I sent an email to put down my membership, they still charging it for 3 months. The manager didnt want to take care of the situation.

One star for the apparent manager, Matt. I feel completely scammed and blown off. Unprofessional and financially predatory. The trainers are great but whoever hired Matt had the wool pulled over their eyes. This dude couldn't manage himself out of a paper bag.He seems to be making things up as he goes along and the idea of taking him seriously is foolish because he is not competent nor does he care about the people coming to the gym. He's citing apparent sections of their handbook as if I'd know what he's talking about and even the trainer had never heard of his random citations either. He's scrambling, don't know how he's in his position when so many great people work at this location.Lazy, unethical and unprofessional. The other manager Cameron had days to contact me, never did and my bank just called after having to put a hold on my card because crunch fitness tried to charge me over a thousand dollars three different times in one day.Do not give your debit or credit info to these confused and poorly organized cheerful scammers

First off, they make it very hard to cancel the membership. You cannot do it by phone or email, must come in. I went in and was told they could freeze my account until December just in case I changed my mind. I thought okay I might. I never did go so I emailed the rep who gave me the info about freezing my account. She then asked was I sure, I said yes, then she proceeded to email me that I had a balance. I emailed back asking how is that possible if my account was frozen. She said Crunch requires a 10 day cancellation notice. No where in the email or in person did she ever mention this. Avoid crunch, there are too many complaints about this gym company.

Usually crowded but still can get to the equipment if you ask/take turns. Most people are chill. Good cleaning supplies and weights are decently organized.

Yes... It's a small gym, but if you avoid peak hours, you shouldn't have any issues with putting in a good workout.I made the switch from 24 Hour Fitness and I couldn't be any happier since the facility is clean + there's no creeps.Cons: There's only two squat racks.Shoutout to Cameron and Jay for making my transition seamless.

The fitness room has modern equipment. There are 3 packages to pick from. The palm check in assures you can always workout without a problem. The staff are pretty cool. Overall, so far, it's a good place to start a workout regimen.

Great Gym. Pretty spacious for what they have. When it gets busy which is usually 3-till closing, it’s impossible to get a good timed workout. I would love them to consider expanding their facility to where Party City use to be at, since the space is quite bigger. Overall great gym and friendly staff service.

Cool little gym with great atmosphere! The positive energy of the staff and great tunes encourages me to go, even without headphones. Yes, it gets a little tight during high traffic but it stays clean, fellow members are courteous and it’s never packed for long.#cruchatizemecaptain

It's a VERY SMALL gym. It's clean though. I've only been during off hours and it's slightly busy at that time so I can only imagine during peak times. This is the smallest gym I've ever been to. They have plenty of machines; I wish they had more ellipticals. Good circuit machines. Moderate amount of weights. Honestly they can only fit so much into such a small space. But for $14/month for that location I can't complain!

I've been going to this gym pretty regularly and it's got its ups and downs.Pros:Clean and new. Most people clean up after they're done. Many cardio machines. Good amount of free weights, and plates, decent amount of benches. I like their music choices generally (personal preference). Price stands alone with its value in the area.Cons:Weight machines have a strange levering mechanism for the seats, making most of them feel very weird and moving the tension from the desired points. Space is just barely too cramped, awkward to move around the weights and machines areas when it's moderately full.BIGGEST CON:For a location in an area as populated as Alameda/Oakland having only TWO SQUAT RACKS is frankly ridiculous. I've been to other smaller gyms (even other Crunch locations) with half the population density have TWICE as many racks. These racks host by-far the most popular compound exercises of modern times and as a result command the highest demand of any other set up save for free weights. They are always in use, often with other lifters nearby already waiting next to use them. Just one more rack would greatly alleviate this issue.Overall decent new location with some strange equipment choices.
