What a wonderful studio! I spent 6 weeks doing private lessons here while staying in AVL and experienced tremendous benefits. Owner Maureen is a gifted instructor with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and as a result, she has a watchful eye, a data bank of clear and effective cues and a supportive healing presence that facilitates the entire process. She is also skilled at working with injuries and can offer a highly effective therapeutic approach when it is needed. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved working with Maureen at Asheville Pilates. During my time working with her she brought a completely new take to my pilates practice. I felt in the time I was working with her my posture and strength improved dramatically. I had some schedule changes and she was very understanding. I highly recommend her studio to anyone looking for a great pilates teacher in the Asheville NC area.

I am an older client. I have ADDED bone mass and able to stop medication treatment for osteoporosis because of regular Pilates workouts.(Which I will continue!) The owner & staff are outstanding. Their workouts are very individualized. It is a space you will love to go to.

I have been a steady client of Asheville Pilates since I moved to Asheville a decade ago. As a professional dancer I began training in Pilates in NY in 1975 with Romana Kryzanowska and over the years it has always helped me recover from injuries. When doctors told me I would be in a wheelchair in nine years due to a rare rheumatoid arthritis I began working with Maureen Sher, and Hope Wolfe. The studio offers the highest quality of Pilates with a special mix of healing energy. If you are looking for a special studio that really knows what they are doing try Asheville Pilates.

I have been working with Maureen for about three years and I have seen great improvement in my strength, flexibility, balance and posture. I eagerly look forward to my weekly individual session at Asheville Pilates. Maureen assesses each person and begins working with what that body presents to her. Her warm and caring approach enhances the whole experience. We use all of the equipment and several styles of exercise in a nice mix to keep things interesting and challenging. I especially like the results from the Gyrotonic modality. The gentle yet effective movement stretches and strengthens muscles and tendons and I have seen remarkable changes in the flexibility of my spine.Breathing is a big part of the routine and that alone improves my clarity of thinking. The studio is a very inviting and comfortable place.Maureen is also a masterful reflexology practitioner! For emotional calm and physical relaxation, she has no equal!

I was new in town and found a Pilates studio not too far from my house. It just wasn’t a good fit for me. When I walked into Asheville Pilates, I knew I was home. That was almost three years ago. I immediately felt comfortable in my surroundings and soon learned how incredibly knowledgeable and deeply caring Maureen Sher (owner) is with her clients. In addition to private lessons, I have been fortunate to participate in Pilate’s classes with Hope Wolfe, an enthusiastic and talented instructor. I have had some physical challenges this year, and am ever so grateful for the extra support I have received from both Maureen and Hope, and for their expertise with both Pilates and Gyro kinesis. It has made such a big difference in my life.Robin M.
