Taija is great, very skillful, well trained and delightful! I am an older woman (81) with RA and an iffy knee. I’ve worked with Taija for about three + months and the overall improvement in my strength, balance and energy is amazing. When I walk, I walk upright, no more leaning. My legs are stronger, I can walk a couple of miles, no problem, and hike even further. My knee keeps getting better. I have become more balanced and have better balance. My arms/shoulders/core are much stronger, yoga postures are easier. My body shape is actually starting to change, and I feel fit. Taija creates exercise series tailored to my level, assures I am doing them correctly, and increases intensity as appropriate. She never pushes, but encourages, is sensitive, checks to make sure there is no pain—effort yes, pain no. And her private studio is lovely! Plus it’s fun!

Miss Ventrella is friendly, encouraging, and an excellent motivator. Most importantly, she's an extremely competent trainer. My experience improved my awareness of and commitment to taking care of one's self, which I can credit with my becoming more self-motivated, not just in terms of fitness, but in my approach to life in general. The use of the word vitality here is apt and well justified. I wasn't surprised to see Vitality Fitness voted number one in the Mountain Xpress best of WNC.

I love this place! Let me preface by saying that I'm not a fitness type. I hated gym class, smoke a lot, and was deeply daunted by the very idea of working out... especially in public with the goofy pants! But Taija makes you feel so respected and encouraged, it was actually fun. She's super knowledgeable, sweet, and can teach you to challenge yourself without getting hurt. If the typical meathead gym isn't your thing and you want to get going on feeling better in a whole range of ways, this is your place. I'm so thankful that a body positive establishment exists. Everyone should go here! For added incentive, there's also a really cute dog around. :)

I've been working with Taija in personal one-on-ones, as well as small group settings, for just over nine months now, and while my body does not look radically different than when I started (although I have noticed lots of happy changes!) I have found that just focusing for an hour - on building strength, pushing my heart rate up and taking the time to focus on my stability and stamina - has started to dull the roar inside my head. Y'all know the one. The constant, critical, internal dialogue that has dominated my thoughts about my body and health for so many years.In addition to her knowledge of fitness, Taija's even-keeled and positive feedback is an essential part of this process - as there is nothing better than having someone say "GREAT job, Susannah, that was awesome, you got this" while I'm dripping sweat, feeling decidedly NOT awesome, and my knees are shaking from exertion. I find that especially on the days when I can't muster up the energy to be nice to myself, I spend an hour with Taija and the niceness comes more easily for the rest of my day.Working with Taija has been the single greatest gift I've given to myself this year, and I feel proud to say that I am on the road to recovery from neglecting, putting down, and sometimes just straight-up ignoring my body for, well, ALL of my post-puberty life. Additionally, regardless of your feelings about the importance of being able to bench press 1,000lbs or run ten miles, I'd like to endorse exercise as a way of practicing self care. Because you don't have to push yourself to Crossfit extremes (throwing up? no thank you) to feel good in your skin and know that you are strong and capable and healthy. And everybody - including you - deserves to feel that way.

Taija Ventrella is an amazing trainer!! So are all of the other folks at Vitality Fitness Asheville. They offer a "gym free fitness" experience. I'm pretty introverted, not very self motivated, and terrified of gyms full of people I don't know. I was a stranger to fitness most of my life. After working out there for 6 or 7 months, I am addicted! I feel safe/comfortable there and not like it's a competition. Not only do I feel happy and powerful, I'm identifying fitness goals I never thought were possible for me. Check them out!

I did fitness training with Taija last summer and it was one, if not the, best thing I could have done for myself. My goal was mass training and I began seeing results pretty quickly. Taija's schedule was flexible and easy to work with and she charged very affordable rates. I'm ETERNALLY grateful for being taught the Scorpion stretch- now a favorite body maneuver. Treat yourself to vitality fitness!

I've been having sessions with Taija for over three months by now. I should admit that the decision to start working out with her was one of the best of my life. First of all, I do genuinely enjoy each session (and taking into consideration my lazy character, Taija must definitely be doing everything right to make me want to come three mornings a week, including Saturday, to her fitness gym). Secondly, I see great results: I'm visibly much slimmer, my everyday back pain due to a severe injury has reduced to a great extent; I take enjoyment in observing a gradual building of my muscles; and I'm not shy any more wearing a bikini (well, I should probably have put that at the top of the list). What I love about Taija, other than her radiant, extremely friendly personality, is that she manages to grasp all of your needs quickly and build an individual program for you that would correspond to your vision of how your body should look. I won't stop repeating that the results are amazing. Furthermore, Taija's gym is perfect for those who prefer a more intimate, private atmosphere and who do not feel comfortable having a crowd of people around while working out. I strongly recommend Taija as a personal fitness coach.

Taija’s nutritional guidance, and genuine care about my well-being, has made a complete difference in my life. I am now a healthier person, and I couldn’t have done it without her support! Taija goes above and beyond traditional physical training, including a customized daily warm-up, a plan for the days I didn’t work with her, expert nutritional guidance, and she modified/created new workouts to go easy on my knee injury. She was highly recommended by my physical therapist, and she had regular communication with him, and incorporated his therapy moves into my workouts. Taija’s positive, motivational attitude is genuine and also goes above and beyond other trainers. I highly recommend her for anyone who is wanting to improve themselves, or just become healthier!
