I'm using a pseudonym. Bobby Powers will figure out who wrote this.I first met him when I was 65. I'm about 80 now. He worked with me at a couple of other gyms until he settled at Windy. He coached me in MA, but more importantly worked on my flexibility, strength, stamina. I was with him until I was 76. Going therefor my lessons was always a pleasure, sometimes a hoot. He seemed to just sense what I could and could not do and was always solicitous of my limitations as an old man with little to no native athletic ability. Safety counted and I was never injured. That's pretty good when working with sticks and bo-staff. We had some fun together with those, also with disarms and various Self Defense scenarios.Ground fighting was tough for me because once I was on the ground I'd get dizzy when standing, which is a problem I still have. So, we'd plan a 30 minute ground fighting session in which I stayed down as much as possible.I stopped going there just prior to heart surgery and did not go back due to other surgeries I needed. I'm well now, but on the verge of being an octogenarian. I don't think I'd be as flexible, agile, and generally well without those years I spent training with Bobby.I don't doubt he is great with kids. He is fundamentally a really nice kind guy.Oh, and he is a bit of a neat-freak. He was always washing the floors, keeping the change room clean, wiping equipment.During my time at Windy I never once heard uncivilor inappropriate language from anyone. Although the atmosphere then was hard core training for adults it was (and I suppose today) a place where things seem safe and free frombad elements who might be attracted to such a place.

Teaching a grandson, age 17, and a great grandson, age 7, self defense after separate bullying episodes. They are both gaining confidence and feel a lot better knowing they can defend themselves now.
