Such a cool experience! There’s a great assortment of machines and I love the vibe. I took a star off because there isn’t a sauna/steam room and with how nice this place is you would think they would have one. Other than that this place is a gem!

Went here when it was Gold's Gym. Loving it! John Reed is owned by the same parent company as Golds. They reduced the number of classroom space that was hardly used and have easily doubled the equipment that was there before. (I for one love that it does not have all those boutique studios). Allows for much more weight lifting equipment and machines. It has a Huge space for squat racks, deadlifting and crossfit. So it offers much more than your typical brandname gym.... oh and it has cool decor and music.

Was just about to join but the old bait and switch.... Called to find out pricing - $80 over the phone. Ok fine. That's high for most of Dallas but doable....... You even hear the on-hold music saying that it's a gym membership not a marriage or something like that. Anyhow - it's interesting but there's alot missing. No pool. Fine that's rare. No hot tub. Ok sure. No steam room or sauna......There's alot of wasted space in the gym. I know it gives an aesthetic but it's SO MUCH WASTED SPACE......The thing that almost got me to buy the membership is it's the only gym open before 7am on weekends.... I have kids - I like to workout before their awake so we can spend the day together..If you're a non-instagrammer, the number of people taking photos of themselves in this place will shock you. It's really insane. Granted it's was a soft opening weekend (but who does that for gyms anyways) I went around 3:30 pm on a Sunday and it was wild. High school kids from HP. 30k millionaires from Uptown. Gals from Mesquite. Inmates from Garland. Alphaletes from who knows where. Gymbronis on tren from Plano. You had essentially the voltron of weird gyms when they unite... They really needed Bill Hader playing Stefan to give a play by play....Anyhow - the gym is pretty. It's got good and great equipment. To me, it feels like a scene - and that's fine if you know that going into it. The people who worked their were very nice and polite. The bait and switch really bothered me - $80/month for a contract - $100 no contract. And and and...... They have no towel service. They have little towels, but you can't take a shower unless you bring your own..Perhaps I'll revisit in a year or so.

I really do love this gym, they have a hip thrust machine which alot of older gyms dont have. They have more space for squat racks and a functional open workout space. Despite the craziness going on opening weekend I can say now that its only paid members its alot better, people are coming in to focus, not a bunch of picture taking. That being said it lacks alot of amenities that one might get spending 100$ a month. And I agree with other reviewers that the entry couch is a colossal waste of space. The rest of the gym is cute enough without the couch. It was cute for opening weekend photo ops but paying patrons want more space to perform workouts, or at minimum a smoothy station, literally anything useful would be better. It seems for the time being members are paying off the custom made white and gold workout machines, (really cool) murals, and various decorative tchotchkes. Hopefully JR will consider adding amenities down the road after a few months of cash influx, but overall decent gym if you live close by.

Beautiful space. Really pretty aesthetic and very Instagram friendly. Very nice staff!PROS:1. So many areas to work out at.2. Hours of operation. So awesome if you weren’t able to go in the morning.CONS: No towel service. I don’t like to carry a towel around and the idea of waiting for mine to dry or just throwing in a wet bag. Don’t want to deal with it.2. Nothing has matched Equniox cleaning standards. The dressing room was trashed this past Sunday. Luxury? but it wasn’t clean.3. I wish they had a few more studio classes. They currently lack in this area.

They have a good selection of equipment but some of the space is wasted. This results in some areas of the gym being overtly crowded. Claims to be a luxury gym but doesn't really have luxury services– it's more so the luxury aesthetic you're paying for. I always get a good workout in here regardless, as the equipment is high quality and they're open early/very late, so you can avoid rush hour crowds by going at an "off" hour. No sauna or steam room, so you're mainly getting the workout equipment, some classes, low-lighting for selfies, and bougie vibes at JR.

Sexy design but machines are sized for taller people, very few mirrors, wasted space in lobby, no foam rollers and members don’t seem to know how to rack weights properly or at all.I joined hoping the vibe wouldn’t be filled with members who want a backdrop for their social videos. No shower towels and hand dryer placement in bathroom makes zero sense. There’s so much potential here. Hopefully they work through these opening challenges or I am going back to lifetime.

First thing I would like to mention is that Brian is THE BEST! Apart from the awesome gym, he is the other reason why my friend and I decided to immediately sign up. Brian always greets members with a smile on his face and has been nothing but kind, friendly, and helpful. I am happy about this gym, it is conveniently located, staff and people are nice, and has all of the equipment I need. A few things to mention is that the music for the classes in the middle of the gym can be very loud, where I am unable to hear my own music through my airpods and sometimes I wonder if the A/C is on because it always feels humid. Other than that, I am overall satisfied with the gym and would recommend it to everyone :)

The layout is very clean and uniform. Took a sec to find the entrance, but the gym was very clean and well laid out. No sauna, no pool, no boxing, no track. Machines and weighs were well laid out and all matched. 80/mo seems a little high when there are a few things missing I look for in a gym, so I won't be coming back.I would describe this gym as Instagram worthy.

Enjoy the gym, spacious and lots of machines and cardio equipment. Music is always upbeat and fun to workout to. I enjoy that it is not packed in the mornings and I never having to wait. Would like towels to dry hands in the bathroom as hand dryer never fully gets you dry. Looking forward to more morning workout classes as they are limited before 7AM/8AM.
