My 2022 season was my 2nd full season with Volt Movement and Coach Sam Hegedus. I completed in several sprint triathlons, the 70.3 North American Championships in Chattanooga, TN and the 2022 70.3 World Championships in St. Geroge, UT where I finished in the top 900 overall, and top 200 Americans.I attribute a significant portion of my success to Sam's coaching and dedication to helping me develop as an athlete. The season did not go perfectly as I dealt with a chronic injury that lingered essentially all year; but she was able to alter my workouts so that I maintained a high level of fitness on a lower volume program. That fact that she is also a PT and can offer additional pre-hab and rehab support is essential to a developing triathlete. My swimming in particular has improved significantly over the past year. When I first started out, I was averaging 1:45-1:50/100y for my weekly swims, however this year I am usually averaging 1:30-1:30, with 100y repeats in the 1:20's! Her experience as a high-level D1 swimmer is valuable in teaching me as an adult learned swimmer.I appreciate all the support and dedication to helping me achieve my triathlon goals and I am very excited for the 2023 season!

I undertook training for the RVA Marathon in the beginning of 2022. I soon realized I needed more support than Google; enter Volt Movement and coach Sam Hegedus.Sam took me from 2 mi/day and nursing an injury to the TarHeel10 by April. From there the real training began. In Volt Movement you get a whole team of champions cheering you on, track day in particular. The Volt Movement team provides support, encouragement, pushing, and validation that training, while hard, is totality project and that any gain is a gain.To succeed with Volt Movement you just need to bring your "I want to... " attitude to the table. From there, Volt Movement has your back.I am forever grateful for all that Sam and team Volt gave me while training in 2022.Irene

After a few years of triathlon training on my own with frequent injuries and burn out I decided to reach out to Sam at Volt. She helped me to my best times in Olympic distance triathlon all while staying injury free.

Sam coached me for my first half marathon in October. She worked with me to create a plan that would get me to my goal time while working around my busy schedule as a dad of two young kids. I ran the best race of my life and was just a minute shy of hitting my goal time of 2 hours. Most importantly, I’m just a flat out better runner after training with Volt.If you’re in Durham, track days at Duke with the Volt Movement team are a blast. The team is extremely welcoming and everyone is supportive of each other. It makes endurance training feel like a team sport.Highly recommend Volt for anyone looking for endurance coaching! Can’t wait to do a 70.3 with Volt next year!

Can't say enough good things about Sam & Volt Movement. With Sam's help I ran my first marathon and crushed my time goal (setting a half marathon PR in the process). Sam worked to accommodate my schedule and build a program that fit my needs as an athlete. Sam's knowledge and expertise as a triathlete, coach, personal trainer and physical therapist helped address all aspects of my training. It is also great to be welcomed into the volt community and to get the team aspect in an individual sport. I can't wait to get started on my next program.

I had the absolute best experience with Sam at Volt Movement. In Durham, and really anywhere, you'll find no better coach than Sam when it comes to running, triathlons, or cycling. Through her guidance, I was able to run my first marathon!I'd recommend Volt not only for the quality and expertise, but also for the community that Volt provides for local athletes. If you are thinking of getting started with endurance racing, or you're looking to perform at an elite level, Volt will be able to help you out.

If you want a top tier endurance coach for any sort of event, I highly recommending contacting Volt Movement, and specifically Sam. When I started my training, I couldn’t swim more than 200 meters without stopping, biking for over two hours was tough, and I struggled to run more than two miles. 20 weeks later, swimming 2000 meters, an over 4 hour bike ride, and running 10+ miles came easy, and I was able to do all of it in on event! All thanks go to Sam, I will definitely be utilizing her and her training plans in the future. Thanks for keeping me motivated too!

Sam provided me with an excellent program including running and strengthening components. She really pushed and supported me. I was close to breaking a nearly 8 year old PR in the 10k. And I’m no youngster! I think had the weather been a little cooler, I could have done it. I highly recommend Volt Movement if you want a dynamic, professional and supportive run coach! I will seriously consider doing this again come cooler weather! I not a summer runner....

Big big fan of Volt Movement! I am currently training for my first triathlon and needed a coach to show me the ropes and provide me with a training program so that I don’t overdo it and injure myself, or under-train and be in over my head on race day. Sam is both a certified USA Triathlon Coach AND a licensed Physical Therapist, so she is really knowledgeable about training progression, injury prevention, training through an old injury, and proper biomechanics for swimming, cycling, and running. VM is located in Durham, North Carolina, but offers both in-person coaching sessions and remote coaching. I’m living in Durham right now, but for the first half of my training I was located in Pittsburgh, PA, so I’ve gotten to experience both remote coaching and in person coaching - they are both great! Here’s how the process has worked for me so far:- I got in touch with VM about 4 months prior to my race date, when I was still in Pittsburgh.- I had a video call with Sam to go over my training & race goals.- Sam designed a training program for me that told me which days to swim/run/bike/strength train, at what intensity, when to train intervals vs. pace, etc.- I’ve since moved to Durham and have had several coaching sessions with Sam in the water, on the bike, and in the weight room.- I am now one month out from my race date. My running pace and distance are the best they’ve ever been, I am more confident and knowledgable about my biking strategy, and I feel really good going into my last month of training!Overall, Volt Movement offers a really high quality coaching experience as demonstrated by the owner’s knowledge of the sport, clear and accessible communication, and enthusiasm for coaching athletes to perform at their best. I definitely recommend VM for anyone who is interested in getting into the sport of triathlon, or for any triathletes who want to up their performance. So stoked to be a Volt Athlete!
