I was relocated to GA with the Army back in September of 2018, my wife moved with me in November. I have sent 2 letters (including orders and the law that applies to them canceling my wife’s account) and still they have yet to cancel her membership. I have called multiple times and get “the manager is not here” “the manager is at lunch I’ll take a message” and other numerous excuses. I called their finance company ABC Financial and they tell us we have to go through the club. So, here we are going on 9 months of still being charged. Maybe this will get someone’s attention and finally take care of this.Per the civil council here at Fort Stewart, we asked for any and all correspondence to be sent via letter so we can have a copy and for any legal proceedings to recoup the 9 months of payments annndddd guess what, no reply. This place is ridiculous.

I told a staff member that I wanted a month by month membership. I was told the cost was 49 dollars for the initial enrollment and then there would be a monthly fee of 25 per month. I asked if the 49 dollar enrollment fee could be waived for a new member and I was told she would talk to a manager to see if she could give me a better deal. I was told the fee was waived. When I tried to cancel the membership I was told that when they waived the fee they changed my membership to a 12 month membership. I said I did not approve this change. They showed me the paperwork but the thing is my initials are in a box that could be signed for either option. I honestly believe they may have changed it after I signed it, but I did not ask for paperwork when I signed up so I can't prove it. I had to pay 127 dollars to get out of the contract and I only went to the place twice. I paid the money to get out of the contract because I don't like dealing with a deceptive company. I have told some of my friends and family about my experience and they have promised to spread the word about this place. They know I very rarely have a negative word to say about anyone. Please always save your contracts and I would advise you not to trust them.

They are nice enough until you try to cancel your membership. I went in on the 18th of April to cancel my membership. I was told by the guy at the counter that it takes a little while to process the cancellation and that I would most likely be charged for that month, I was. Then this month (May) I am charged my monthly fee again and they also charged my annual fee. I called to ask about it and was told that they didn't have any record of my cancellation request and there is nothing they can do. I was told that I had to come in again to reprocess my cacelation. They said They would not refund the charges. I asked what would happen if I disputed the charge with my bank and was told that they would send me to collection. So because someone on there end didn't process my cancellation request correctly they want to hold my money. Beware of this shady business practice before you become a memeber. I will never do business with the chain of gyms again. And I recommend that you find another one to join also.

Can be moderately over crowded at times, staff is usually fairly friendly as well. Seems like the people going for the classes love it here. To me it is a little steep for what you get but for the convenience of where this is located it is our go to gym.

I like 24/7 gym access, good equipments and friendly staff. I wish if guests can have more than a week of free access pass.

Terrible customer service. I went in back in June or July of 2017 to change my method of payment. At that time, I also signed my cancellation and wanted it to be implemented upon completion of my contract. So I wasn't trying to get out of a contract early or anything. I was starting up my Master's program and could use the school's gym, so I just didn't need the membership anymore after my contract finished. It is now May and I noticed that I was charged again by them. My wife normally handles the balancing of the checking accounts, I just happened to check this one time and noticed this charge. I went into the Maplecrest location and the lady working the front desk was extremely polite, but stated that since I was unable to present a receipt she was unable to help and referred me to the billing manager. The billing manager gave me a call about an hour or so later and started the conversation off with "What do you want?" Extremely cold and unprofessional. I explained my situation, and how I had recently moved and recently had a baby, which consisted of a lot of remodeling around the house, so I was unable to locate the receipt. I further suggested that they can see that I have faithfully paid my fees to the completion of my contract and have not once signed in to use the gym since that summer when I started school back up. It is easy to deduce from these findings that it is very possible that the error is on their end, especially considering how many people seem to have issues with cancelling their memberships and being charged after the fact. I also stated that from a business standpoint I understand asking for a receipt, but from a customer service standpoint you would think they would understand the extenuating circumstances, want my business and my friend's business in the future, and thus be a little more understanding with making the situation right. The billing manager disagreed and stated that I would have to come back in to sign and cancel or send a letter in the mail (which really frustrated me...why didn't they have me do this when I was in there earlier?). I asked for the number for her boss, which she replied was corporate and they don't give that number out so I'd have to contact them via the website. She was extremely cold, insensitive and provided terrible customer service. I have since reached out to corporate office via the website contact us link. I truly am hopeful that this situation gets resolved. If they want my future business after graduation, they need to make this right. If it does get resolved, I will come back and edit this post to reflect the good quality customer service that corporate provides. Until that time, however, Max Fitness will never have my business, or the business of my friend's if I have any say about it, again. As of right now, all I have witnessed is extremely unethical business practices in order to make a quick buck.

Be prepared to deal with poor customer service, policies they do not inform you about and crowded space. If you are not there to notice posters posted about policy changes you will never know. Also they do charge a cleaning and equipment repair fee once a year not specified during initial sign up. Owner is crooked and will side with employees over a paying customer. Guest only get a free one time pass. Save your money or try else where

Absolutely terrible. The billing manager is awful. I went to cancel my membership 4 months ago and it never got canceled. Now I have to pay them more money because of their mistake. When I called to talk to the manager she accused me of being a liar. Then later after arguing hangs up on me. Instead of us coming to an agreement she decides to give the worst customer service I've ever had. Later after the phone call she emails me my old agreement? I'm really confused at why? I will never recommend this place. Very very rude and inconsiderate and obviously don't know how to treat their members. My entire family is also withdrawing their memberships and I am telling everyone who reads this review. Just because they tell you it's canceled doesn't mean it is. Be very very careful when you commit to this place. Also your rates continue to go up. Mine originally was $10 then $15 then $25 to "better serve their members"

Okay selection of equipment, not enough to support the busy crowd. I did like the nice, open multipurpose room. Guest access is $5 for students or military members. Be aware they will hold your form of identification until you leave. Also be aware it's going to be poorly secured during that time.

Warning To American Health Fitness Transfers: I am a new member. I came to Max Fitness after AHF closed down. The facilities in Fort Wayne are beautiful and I have been really excited to be a member there. However, the last few days I've experienced something very frustrating and I wanted to bring it to the attention of those considering a membership there.Wednesday of last week I noticed I had been charged $19.95. I had already paid my last months $19.95 when I signed up and was charged my monthly fee on July 20th, so you can imagine my surprise when for a third time in the month I was charged $19.95. I'm on a budget and was down to my last $20. So when my card was charged it left me with $0.26 until payday. This is where the situation becomes a customer service concern.I made several calls, spoke with several different reps and everyone led me on a wild goose chase. Finally after 2 days of chasing my tail, I was told that the Maplecrest location was to blame and would be issuing me a refund. They said it could take 3-5 business days. There was never a sincere apology or an offer to help make it right. They just took my money for a week and wanted me to be like "ok no big deal".So Monday I went to the Dupont location and spoke with Scott, the manager. I told him this whole story and he was appalled. He apologized genuinely, which I must say was the first time I felt like my issue was being recognized. He called the Maplecrest location to confirm that my refund had been processed. The lady from Maplecrest called me back while I was still in his office and said that yes it had been processed but that it may take 5-7 business days. That’s now 2 days longer than what I was told the week before. So now I may not see my $20 until next Monday. I have been told that the manager from the Maplecrest location is also 40% owner of the Fort Wayne locations and that he wants the Maplecrest location revenue to be higher and that may be why I was overcharged. That perhaps Scott from Maplecrest doesn’t like that the American Health Fitness transfers last month’s fees were processed at the Dupont location so he just went ahead and charged us from the Maplecrest location too to inflate his revenue. As I’m writing this it’s already been 6 business days since they processed the refund and I haven’t seen the money come through to my account yet. Keep in mind it took them 2 days to get it together to even make the refund. So they've had my money for 8 business days. 10 days including the weekend.I'm frustrated that I had to call and talk through this with so many different people and that only once was I called like I was told I would be. I appreciate that I'm getting my $20 back but that means that I have had no money for gas or food for 2 days. That's unacceptable to me. People don't just go around handing $20 to people and letting them hold on to it for a week and that's effectively what Max Fitness has done to me. So my question is why is it that I'm expected to just accept the refund as if that makes the situation right when for 2 days I had no money for food and couldn't get gas for my car?. This kind of inconvenience shouldn't just be shrugged off by their customer service reps.UPDATE: The refund finally came through - 2 weeks after it had been taken out.
