I would never recommend this place. I live two minutes from this rec center and they claim I'm not a Hoover resident. They won't let me into their facility even though I can walk there from my apartment. Its disappointing that their employees only see what's on their computer system instead of listening and using common sense. The manager wouldn't even speak to me. Very sad because I enjoy working out.

Really love the sense of community here - both from the members and the staff. Speaking of, a shout-out to Samuel (front desk) and Mitch (pool). They do their job well and are genuinely good guys. Both care about you not just as a member but as a person. I consider them (and am thankful that they are) both my friends.Love to come here and swim laps regularly. The HRC is awesome!

First time husband and me went for a visit to tour the complex. It had everything we were looking for.Take a leap and check it out. Husband is up to 3 miles on the track and I have increased my workout in water aerobics.

A great contribution of Hoover city to the community. The place is clean, open spaces, and a great place to exercise for all ages. The group classes are great addition to the center activities.

Let's be clear, in order to allow a girls basketball team to use your gym you FORCE them to join the city's youth recreational league and play with the boys. When the girls pay their dues, WIN the championship, you DENY their team because they're girls and don't count, so you award the losing team.Shameful, disgusting and just downright nasty behavior.

Don't go here. The place reeks of misogynistic cheaters. An Alabama youth girls’ basketball team that was told they would have to play in a boys’ league, won the league chip vs a boys team, but was denied the championship trophy. How does this square with the statements about sportsmanship and equality that I'm sure you have plastered all over the walls in the gym?

I love the Hoover Rec! The only reason I didn’t give them five stars is they keep the top floor walking track sweltering. It is always so extremely warm. There are a lot of windows, so I’m sure that contributes to how hot it feels. Also, this is one of the only places that I know of that the staff gets to park right in front, instead of the customers. With such limited upfront parking, the staff should have a different area to park so that the customers can use the spots right up front, however, their staff are always very friendly and I really enjoy working out here!

Excellent location to host all of your activities. Tons of space and next door to the library and City Hall too.
