I love traveling around the country and visiting different YMCA's. This one is a must see! Set right down down Kansas City the building has been renovated and looks and feels inviting. The amenities were incredible, including the steam room and sauna. The gym had everything we needed for our workout and the staff was friendly. This location is very clean and seemingly managed well. Hope I get to go back soon!

For a gym that supports diversity and inclusivity within their social media platforms and in-person, their employees surely lack respect and kindness towards Muslims. Being told to change my clothes, due to it not suiting the "westernised" bathing suit is incredibly discriminatory and rude. Not to mention, I was informed of this issue in such a rude tone. There's no need to have Muslims being highlighted on your pages or within your entrance if you cannot respect their dress-code. I do not pay 48 dollars for a membership where I am ignored and discriminated against.

Terrible people. I was told i could leave things overnight and therefore left swimming equipment in a locker. They then broke the lock and threw away over $300 worth of equipment and offered nothing in return. They even had the gall to still want to charge me a membership cancellation fee. Dont come here.

Facility is clean, equipment is in great shape, TVs work, and steam room is nice and hot . It's also not very crowded like the Northland Ys and the staff is friendly

It is a nice gym but they need to clean better especially under and around the workout equipment and free weight racks.

Update :The Director YMCA, gave me the call today. I am really impressed the way he spoke & It was really great to know that the management here is real serious about the customers concerns.... He explained me the situation & assured to take stern measures to resolve the life guard shortage issue....Thank you YMCA.Very disappointing...They have permanent under staffing issues here... Specially the pool area. If you are joining the facility for pool & hot bath... Please consider something else...because there pool staff is normally not available and it remains closed most of times. They were closed yesterday... Even closed today... The receptionist said it will open at 0530....and after waiting for about 45 minutes.... It's still closed..Very bad. However gym facilities are okay...

The facility is wonderful! Pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, cardio equipment, strength training, and a walking track are several amenities that are offered at Kirk YMCA. It is a friendly environment and right in the heart of downtown KC. Go check it out!

There are some serious miss management issues with the swimming pool of this facility... Within two weeks, the pool is closed due to shortage of staff... 1st time they just got everyone out of it because the life guard had to go & the next in the shift is not coming.... They just could not pay some money to outgoing guard as overtime to keep the facility open..... And today is the second time that the pool is closed because the life guard is on the way... This is really frustrating....People are coming all the way from the work places just to know that pool is closed... At least have a automated email system set up to let people know that the facility is closed..

Love this facility, top notch, bright, new equipment. My only issue is the dress code. Im a woman and am absolutely tired of seeing other women with short shorts on. I understand we all have different body shapes but i had the unfortunate experience of having to look at a young woman with shorts so short they may as well have been underwear. Enforce the dress code and make it clear that tbis will not be tolerated.
