Wow!! What a great place. Best locker rooms ever. Gym equipment for everyone. Warm 81 degree pool for laps. Nice Cafe. I haven't ever been to a better facility. We went to a Tai Chi class here with a great instructor. Highly recommended!!

Avoid avoid avoid. Our family has consistently had the worst experiences with Oakwood Athletic Club. Their facilities are old and outdated. The machines are constantly broken. The pool is always packed with too many people in a lane. But most egregious is their terrible customer service. It simply doesn't exist. Multiple friends have been injured onsite due to Club negligence, and their response has been abysmal. One of our friends slipped on the racketball court because they had a leak in the roof, resulting in puddles. They did absolutely nothing about it and showed absolutely no concern. Overall, Oakwood charges exorbitant fees for poor service and inadequate facilities. We have let our membership lapse and will not be back.

We’ve been going to Oakwood for almost a year. As a younger family with 3 kids, Oakwood is the proverbial water in the desert. It has amazing child care facilities that allow parents the break needed to de-stress and energize.

I went on a Sunday Afternoon. I just can't believe one of your worker at the pool area who is working as a lifeguard talking to the phone and walking around the facility with no shoes. Very unprofessional. He also like relaxing as he is tanning his body. Caught him twice already. This happen Sunday afternoon 06/25/2023

The worst. We've been members for a decade, but not anymore. Oakwood doesn't take care of its members. They recently had leaky roofs from the rain. Members slipped and hurt themselves, my niece included. Oakwood charged full fees for the period she was injured even though she couldn't swim or take classes, and they were absolutely awful to deal with. The locker rooms are outdated and smell bad. Shower curtains are full of mold. The classes are extremely "meh." The pool is packed on hot days, often 4+ people to a lane, and out-of-control kids running wild. Oakwood simply isn't worth the price. We've dealt with management countless times and they don't accept constructive criticism, so we're cancelling our membership. Don't bother with this place.

Firstly,My family and I have been members of oakwood for ~8 years. Recently, one of my family members had left a bag in the women’s locker room and called to have someone from the front desk retrieve the bag so that I could go to the gym and pick it up. When I arrived 30 minutes later, none of the staff had went to retrieve the bag that was left. When I got there, it took about 10 more minutes for someone who worked at the gym to finally get the bag. Once they went to the lockers, the bag was gone and about $300-400 worth of items were now lost/stolen. I understand that it’s my family members fault for leaving the bag, but the lack of urgency, concern, and care for me or my family members I’m this situation is outrageous considering the price of the membership here.

So I love this place. I like many was turned off by the process to join, fees and wait lists but it was shorter than they said and has been worth it. We had gone to another big fancy gym in the area for years as well but we have kids now. Our oldest did not like the childcare there and they called me to get her each time I took her which meant no working out for me. Both of my kids love the Oakwood childcare, 11 months and 3 years. My baby has been going since she was 4 months old. The staff is nice and well trained. There is a reservation process but there is almost always openings plus then you know it is not too crowded and the kids are safe and we'll attended. They gym is very clean and well maintained. The equipment is always in working order. Out of order signs do not stay up long. Even on busy days and times it is fine, not loud or to crowded. The classes are great. There do seem to be a few less but they are good and less crowded. The pool area is clean and nice. The locker rooms are spotless. There is almost always someone cleaning or stocking. The steamroom and sauna are great. It does get busy during peak hours but there is plenty of room to spread out.The food is good and they are adding new items. It is fast, healthy and reliable.Wifi is available and works great. Many people use the great hall as a home office between workouts. So yes I understand it is not for everyone, but if you are interested it is worth the wait.

$300 to be on the Waiting list. 8 months$900 initiation fee - one time payment (after 8 months!)$160 monthly fee - not bad.Talk about an exclusive gym. Oh and no fat people allowed.I'll just go back to my poor people gym.. 24 fitness.. :D

The absolute best athletic club in the East Bay. Plenty of equipment and classes plus a huge pool and basketball courts. The staff are attentive and helpful. If you stay until closing time, you will see an energetic cleaning crew maintain a level of cleanliness I have not seen in a club before. Yes, it costs more, yet offers so much that I consider it a bargain.
