Great place to learn! I have attended some seminars at this school. They do a really great job of breaking down the information. they take the time to make sure you really understand what you're being shown. Plus I always have a fun time with these guys, they are as funny as they are knowledgable. We laugh in every class.

Very professional yet relaxed atmosphere. Good teaching and good training partners. The material taught is realistic, but trained in a very safe manor. Every time I've had the opportunity to work with Guro T. Kent Nelson and his staff, I've always been very impressed.

I have been training in martial arts since I was 7 years old. Now at the ripe age of 46 I look back on my experiences and find that KSK Martial Arts Academy is one of the highlights in my life. No matter your level of experience or background, Guro Nelson and his staff made each and every class productive and enjoyable. Along with the regular classes there are opportunities to attend seminars, to supplement his own teachings, with experts (and famed) individuals such as Dan Inosanto.Just as with the beginning of many schools, we would meet at Guro Nelson's home and work out of his garage which he had transformed into a dojo. I have since moved away from Michigan so have not had the opportunity to see the new dojo, but I look forward to visiting.

I've been extremely impressed by the individual attention and the personal care given to each student. KSK is a nurturing family supporting each student's growth and development, whether the goal is self defense or mastering a physical art form. Also, at the special seminars, the box lunches are exceptional!

I've always been impressed by Kent Nelson's willingness to grow, excel and exceed. It's been a joy to watch KSK Martial Arts grow with it's leader. I've witness the skill's of Mr. Nelson in LEO combatives, Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing, grappling and BJJ. The potential of KSK Martial Arts is limitless, for I do not feel Mr. Nelson will ever be content with the state of his current skills, no matter how good they are. KSK will continue to grow because Mr. Nelson will always continue to grow. It's such a comfortable environment to learn safely. I highly recommend this school.

I began my experience training at KSK by participating in their 2 part Women's Self Defense classes. I was unsure what to expect, but found the experience to be empowering and fun. T. Kent Nelson and his staff were clearly very knowledgeable, great teachers, and made me feel comfortable.I enjoyed the self defense classes so much that I began taking MMA-JKD at KSK Martial Arts. It was an intimidating thing for me to do, as I am a woman who has never participated in any sort of martial arts training before. And as a newbie I have found training at KSK to be something I hugely enjoy.I always look forward to class and find the methods used to train students to be inclusive, informative, practical, and done in a manner that is low-pressure, focused on detail, and so much fun that I always leave class exhilarated having learned new things while getting a pretty good workout as well! It’s a fantastic facility, run by truly great people.I am so happy to be training at KSK and look forward to discovering where training at KSK Martial Arts will take me. I have so much more to learn from Guro Kent and the rest of the KSK folks!Go there! Try it out!

Nobody in the martial arts works harder to "get it right" than Kent Nelson, who runs KSK. Whether it's finding training opportunities with other great teachers, focusing on the needs of his students, or explaining in clear terms how and why something works, Kent does what it takes. KSK has a great facility, a positive atmosphere, and a crew of extremely hard working advanced students. If you're within 50 miles of Lansing, you owe it to yourself to get to KSK and start training!

KSK is an outstanding martial arts school with an exceptional training atmosphere. Guro T. Kent Nelson has a wealth of knowledge in many disciplines and his teaching ability is second to none. This is a safe and friendly environment that is structured to benefit beginners, seasoned martial artists, and everyone in between. For many of Guro Nelson’s students, KSK is not just a place to learn, but a lifestyle to embrace.

Kent Nelson has a terrific background in martial arts and takes the practice very seriously. I reached out to him and he was nice enough to meet with me on a Friday night. After getting to chat with him, he actually took the time to go over some of the training that he offers and we trained until late into the night. He is extremely nice, inviting and very knowledgeable and I would recommend training at KSK Martial Arts to anyone interested in good training and pedegogy!
