Love this gym and the people in it! I started here because I wanted a great kickboxing workout and that is exactly what I got. The intensity is always on point and so is the vibe. If you’re looking for a challenging workout and supportive instructors, this is the place for you.

12/10 highly recommend! I don’t normally leave reviews, but I had to for Hotbox. I absolutely love it his gym! It is unlike any other place I have been a part of. I have met awesome people, made the best of friends and all while getting a good workout in. Hotbox is truly a special place especially for women cause they pride themselves in making sure it’s a safe space for us to feel comfortable and workout without fears of being preyed on like it tends to happen at other gyms. The workouts are killer and *99%* of instructors are amazing! They are super insightful and very helpful when it comes to helping correct form or coming up with modifications to prevent injury. It’s like having your own personal trainer every class. If you decide to join (I really think you should) I am 20/10 recommend MJ’s kickboxing class and either Mel or Jesse for strength classes!

There aren’t many convenient gym offerings in downtown Nashville but Hotbox is definitely one of them (free parking woo hoo)! I tried a free class when I moved to Nashville and haven’t looked back. The staff is incredibly welcoming and the other members are as well! There is such a supportive and loving culture here that you can really feel. The instructors are also extremely hands on and helpful - if you are new to the fitness world and are looking to learn in a safe environment, this is the place. The price can be intimidating at first but I can say, as someone used to paying $30 a month for a big gym membership - it is 100% worth the price of admission!

This past week I had the pleasure of working out at Hotbox 4 times on my recent trip to Nashville. I completed 3 strength and one kickboxing class. From the moment you enter Hotbox you are greeted by someone at the front desk which makes you feel welcomed and sets the tone for the friendliness of the entire staff that you will encounter. Jen was one of the first faces I saw at Hotbox and she was such a sweetheart who radiated positive energy. Sophia helped me plan the best schedule for my classes during my trip and was extremely knowledgable about the composition of the workouts and the trainers of each class. If you’re a newbie for kickboxing, they offer glove and wrap rentals which was a really nice touch! I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Kyle, during one of my visits and his passion and dedication to the space he’s created is palpable. As someone who mainly does home workouts, I was intimidated going into my first strength classes in a group setting, but Jessie and James made sure the circuit set ups were clear and demo-ed all moves prior to beginning. A dynamic warmup is also done at the start of class that focused around the range of movement for the individual exercises in each circuit which is imperative to avoid injury and helped start the mind-muscle connection for the coming movements. The workouts themselves are very well thought out and the overall group for strength class was split into 2-4 smaller breakout groups so there isn’t ever a wait during your circuit when moving to the next exercise. Each trainer chooses their own music so the variety day-to-day was different but always high-energy bangers that kept the vibe up.There’s an INSANE range of free weights, kettlebells, bands, bars, medicine balls, and plates so everyone can choose what works for them for each exercise. The strength space itself was immaculately clean and there were towels and spray bottles provided to clean equipment post circuit which was excellent. The workouts themselves were challenging but modifications were provided to make sure everyone could find what worked best for them (ie: sumo squats on risers vs on the floor; pull ups using a resistance band or rings).I had the pleasure of taking Meg’s kickboxing class and while I had done kickboxing in the past, being in a heated room was a new experience for me. She was very attentive with answering my questions on form or the combo breakdown as the classes are very fast paced and high intensity! I really enjoyed the mix between bag and floor work and felt completely SHATTERED when I finished, but with a simultaneous sense of accomplishment at the work done in 40 minutes. I did not have the opportunity to take a class with Chris (the kickboxing lead), but was able to meet him and see some of his 1:1 trainings with clients and know he would lead a devastatingly good class! The facilities were spotless inside. You can tell cleanliness is not an issue at Hotbox in the workout rooms or the locker rooms. The women’s locker room was beautifully designed and had blow driers and products available for a post-workout shower (remember to bring your own towel!). There are cubbies in both the locker rooms and individual gym rooms (one for strength, one heated for kickboxing) so never a lack of space to store your personal belongings. Some extra notes/callouts:- There is ample parking on the street or in the parking garage right behind the studio.- You can purchase Hotbox brand merch, wraps, and gloves at the front which are all beautifully designed.- You will need sneakers for strength classes and barefoot for kickboxing (though you will need slides to walk across the lobby #cleanliness!! )- There is a water fountain in the lobby.- There is a Publix across the street for a post-workout snack :)Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome! This misfit will without a doubt be coming back to Hotbox anytime I’m in Nashville for a killer workout!!
