Since 1971 the Newport Beach Athletic Club has kept celebrities' educators, and elite members of Newport society healthy in a clean, modern facility (offering month to month) contracts for men/women.Customer service by Tom and Dorothy the legacy of the dynamic team of Tom and John aka "Mr. B" merited write ups in the OC Register. Wonderful, clean and modern aesthetics here. After dining with Tom and Dorothy I came to know why people---despite many gyms/clubs in Newport---frequented NBAC, its simple, honest and *individualized care by Tom, Dorothy and John.*Family frequented..

Old school and old, overpriced for what you get, but not the worst gym you go to I would probably recommend a Curl or Equinox over this place

Great gym to to enjoy and the locker room facilities are amazing compared to most. Thank you to Tom and the team for providing a great gym atmosphere and helping work through any member difficulties.

The Newport Beach Athletic Club was a surreal experience for me. This gym is more likely to cater to those who have an affinity for the old school workouts as opposed to people who are drawn by the trends. The gyms are separated by gender, so women will work out with women while men will work out with men.For the men's gym, the roof has its own track, the second floor has an extensive variety of weight-lifting equipment (along with cardio equipment), and the ground floor has sports courts for racquetball and basketball. What is arguably the draw here for me is their spa circuit - This is the only place that I’ve seen with a eucalyptus room, their cold pool is sub 60 degrees Fahrenheit, their jets vary by power with placement, and the steam room gives you a workout. As the spa is entirely located in the men’s locker room, it is clothing optional. They also offer towels and shower shoesMy only gripe is the limited hours - This is not a place for those who want a late night workout and the gym is only open 10-4 on Sundays. If that’s not a big deal to you, then you can get a day or week pass instead of a monthly membership, but the membership pays for itself after 8 or 9 visits. It’s not my full-time spot, but I do go there for my spa circuit when the need arises.

Amazing gym. A bit expensive but worth every penny. The staff is cool and the gym is clean and organized. The equipment is modern and kept in amazing condition.

Hands down the best! John Bazacas founded Newport Beach Athletic Club (NBAC) in 1971, and in all the intervening years, few, if any, of his competitors have survived the glut of shoddy imitators. Today, John is joined in running the gym by his son Tom, both of whom are on site constantly to ensure everything operates as it should. I was first a member in the late 80s when I had an office a stone's throw away. For a number of years, after relocating my office, I worked out at another now-closed gym, but returned to find NBAC it better than ever.Conveniently located in Newport Center, NBAC has easy access, convenient parking, and long hours that should satisfy the demands of those who like to work out before, during, and/or after work. The Café serves excellent and healthy fare, and now offers a wide selection of beers and wines. NBAC prides itself on its high standards for cleanliness, and available access to top-notch equipment without the lines that plague its low-cost imitators. There is even a separate section set aside for women's exclusive use, although the workout areas are generally available to men and women alike, if preferred. There are many reasons to join NBAC, but the one that stands out the most in my experience after almost 30 years is the camaraderie among the members, and the friendly kidding and banter that define the morning atmosphere. Great owners + great members = a winning combination.

Tom, the club, and all the staff are incredible. Very accommodating, very friendly, very helpful. I highly recommend this club for great weight workouts, racketball, basketball, and much more. Nice locker rooms and bathrooms, Jacuzzis, hot and cold, they got it all. You the man TOM. Thank you!!

Great gym. Friendly staff and members, small business/boutique gym feel. Clean. All the equipment you need no matter how you like to work out. I personal enjoy Olympic lifting and circuit training and they have bumper plates, kettle bells, etc. Never too crowded either, which is a huge plus in this populous area.
