The only reason I am giving this place three stars is due to the unfortunate service we got at the front desk. The teachers are amazing, but beware before putting your money down for group classes. We found out after we called a few times , visited a class and put our money down that we couldn't start our 3 year old for another month due to an evaluation appointment she has to initially do to make sure she is ready for the group sessions. We were getting different stories and the front desk seemed to have different stories with different peoole. Completely understand they would have this process but it would be good to know before we put the money down and invested the time considering how badly our LO wants to starts. So be very careful and make sure to ask a lot of questions bcause the front desk is not forthcoming with info. Otherwise the teachers are amazing and really loving, hopefully we can get up from #30 on the wait list and start sooner!

I have been studying martial arts for 20 years, teaching for 17 and a school owner for 8. My first time meeting Adrian and Ceci was at the Team Parrella Martial Arts Mastermind coaching group. This group of school and business owners along with our coaches from Team Parrella are dedicated to taking martial arts business to a new level. All this with the purpose of better serving our communities and positively influencing peoples lives. Adrian and Ceci are some the most caring and dedicated individuals that I have had the pleasure to meet. The strive to be the best at what they do. If you want a place for your child to grow and develop a mindset that will make them unstoppable check out Adrian and Ceci atBay Area Martial Arts Oakland.Make It A GREAT Day!

I never thought I’d be one of those moms who enrolled her toddlers to martial arts and actually spent money on that, After all, how much could a toddler, preschooler, or other young child actually learn in these classes? A LOT.. the key is choosing the right teacher and the right school, in Bay Area Martial Arts with the most focused and knowledgeable instructors my kids learned (and still learning) to Breath, Conflict Resolution, Connect Their Mind and Body, They're Gaining Self Confidence and Self Respect, They're Learning to Take Hits, Finding Focus and Stillness, They (and You) Will Get More Active, I highly recommend this place

I've been learning here since I was 4 and I never imagined what I would gain from it after 10 years of training. After 2 or 3 yrs, I could see my progress while I was growing up and overall, I was more mature, street-smart, and more fit than the other kids in my Elementary school. After 10 years, I've gotten my junior black belt and became an assistant instructor at BAMA. Without learning martial arts from BAMA, I don't know who I would be now. Thank you BAMA, for changing my life and steering me into the right direction.

Each class is 30 min, twice a week, and my 4 yr old never wants to leave afterwards. I wish there were a preschool based on the BAMA philosophy, to totally let my child immersed in such positive environment every day. My preschooler is super busy and active; they train him while being gentle and sensitive with his developing personality. We also learn so much parenting from being in class and use their daily chore sheets to extend the black belt philosophy outside the classes. It's a great dojo to nurture a whole child!

My son has been going here for a couple of years. Great instructors. They have a really good sense of how to tailor the program to where the kids are at, age wise. They manage a really good mix of hard core martial arts (or the need precursors) and fun.

I signed my kindergartener daughter in the six-week promotion to see if she would enjoy martial arts. I knew after her first class that this was going to be truly enriching for her, and she loves going to her classes.I love that the classes are age specific- and you can see how the teaching styles are geared towards each age group. As explained by Sensei Adrian in our assessment- four-year-olds and seven-year-olds are capable of different things at different times. Having them in age-appropriate classes will help them succeed because they are with their peers. The instructors are firm but fair, and are amazing with a large group of kids. They don't coddle anyone, they have the same expectations of everyone.I'm proud of how my daughter has taken to BAMA in such a short time. She has gotten stronger and already shows more self discipline (as much as can be expected from a five-year-old)!My husband and I are so happy that we found Bay Area Martial Arts!

Solid training by stage in development. They train you physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially to be at the top 5% of your age group and my experience has been entirely awesome.
