Absolut worst gym I have ever been to and the rudest people I have ever met. I went in to discuss a guest issue and the manager yelled at me when she asked a question about it. I have never experienced worse customer service in my life and the inside of the gym was disgusting..

I love the gym here. Locker room and sauna isn't great but I'm not there for a beautiful bathroom. Been feeling great ever since I started going and membership isn't too expensive. One thing, I wish a guest pass wasn't so much money! It's $25 for the day which is close to the price of the monthly membership. Some of my friends and family just want to try out the gym!

I’ve been going to Strong and Shapely for several years now and one thing I could say is the weight room is perfect! Paulie and his staff do an amazing job at keeping the gym updated with new equipment almost every week. The staff is super friendly and always there for assistance. The problem with the gym however is the locker rooms. Unfortunately, the locker rooms are unkempt and just flat out disgusting. As soon as you walk into the bathroom your hit with the strong smell of urine at anytime of the day. They don’t even have paper towels to wipe your hands, instead a hand dryer that has mold growing under it. The sauna is flat out awful, doesn’t even stay on the whole time and isn’t hot at all. Their competitors have a 10x better locker room. With a locker room renovation this gym could possibly be the best in North Jersey.

Paulie is probably the worst owner of any small business I’ve ever interacted with. Expect problems with everything - they’re constantly trying to nickel and dime, while also overcharging for membership. The amenities are absolutely horrible. Bathrooms smell like feces and the showers haven’t worked in years. This gym is surviving off of its history.

By far one of my favorite places to train. It’s not your typical named brand gym. It’s made for people who are ready to get after it! I’m moving from the area and will truly miss working out here. Thanks S&S!

Fairly priced, lots of equipment. My issue is that I went in, asked if they had personal trainers, was told yes and to come in on Monday to talk with a manager. Every Monday for 4 weeks I was told a manager would be in Friday and every Friday I was told on Monday. Kind of annoying… other than that, great staff, great range of equipment

I've been coming here since 2003. Shapely is my 2nd home. Best gym around, and I've been to a lot. It's changed throughout the years of different management and owners, but still has that old-school gym vibe. Come to Shapely and jump on gain train! Love it!

I lived in SI for many years and never heard of S&S. When moved to Jersey City I was training at NYSC in JC/Harbor Side it was a cool Gym. obviously they closed them all during the Pandemic. So I was training @ Golds in Teterboro. One day a member said to me you belong in Strong & Shapley during the pandemic. I said what is S&S??? He said a Gym you will love it!! So afterwards, right after my session I stopped by on my way home, the desk staff let me in so I could look around. I only walked in a few feet and I knew it was perfect for me. I immediately joined. I wish I would have known sooner and new owner Pauli has made it even better.I still live in Jersey City and I have been a regular ever since and don’t plan on leaving.

The only thing this gym is missing is a working sauna! It's been so long please fix it*Editing my review because of the ongoing sauna issue. I've been a member of this gym for almost 10 years. The sauna use to always be on and nice and hot, just like it is at every other gym. Unfortunately for the last year or so you have to request the sauna to be turned on at the front desk, which is a timer that turns it off after about 45 minutes. The sauna doesn't even get decently warm in that amount of time. I have to request the timer be cranked back up 3 times while I work out so that at the end of my 1.5-2 hour workout I can sit in a warm, not hot sauna. I was told tonight that it will be serviced soon, but still on a timer "30 minutes per member" were the exact words I was told. For $45 a month it would be nice to have a functional sauna, like we always had. I don't understand the big deal around leaving it on like a normal gym.
