They wouldn't cancel my membership on time and made up a story on how I needed to give a thirty day notice like it was an apartment. They charged me twice that month

I've been a member of City Fitness for a while and I'm excited when this location is opened. It's only 5 minutes bike ride away from where I live and it's conveniently located around shops, restaurants and couple blocks away from ACME.This gym is not perfect. Even though this place is bigger than the older location on Reed st. This place still small and don't have enough equipment. One peck deck machine and no calf raise machine. Coming around busy time could be challenging. The membership is not cheap. But with top quality customer service, front desk who ALWAYS greets you when you come and when you leave, clean equipment, even when there is broken equipment, they fixed it in timely manner, sauna, clean shower, towels, amenities, access to all City Fitness location in the city, classes.. You really get what you pay for.. seriously.. Can't even compare with Planet Fitness Black Card membership. Will I recommend City Fitness? Yes absolutely ... But please don't come to this place.. go to other bigger location :)

Overpriced. 24 hour gym that does maintenance in the weight area in the morning and not at night when there’s no one there. Poorly run and creepy to women going back to 2017. Other gyms are much cheaper and way less creepy

I went into City Fitness East Passyunk this past Sunday to inquire about membership options because I need a sauna in my life. Jess from member services was fabulous! From the moment I met her she displayed a kind, welcoming demeanor and a big smile. She was enthusiastic to show me the facility and didn’t miss a single detail. Unfortunately the membership is out of my budget range, but I used many of the facility’s features and equipment and had a great time. Jess walked me through every membership option, showed genuine care and concern, and answered all my questions with knowledge and expertise about the brand and the facility. I mainly wanted to write this review to showcase her. Guest service of her caliber is rare these days, and Jess truly went above and beyond in providing a prospective guest with excellent, personalized service.

Just a popular and convenient location, however, simply over priced due to it and completely not 100% worth it. Too crowded in evening, and management is not super proactive. Their Zumba instructor is great. Liked her Wednesday classes. Wanted to join it but the employees didn’t show enough interest or provide enough info. Its like I would not recommend but not dealbreaker to join as its at it’s prime location.

The only upside here is the staff, and maybe the classes if you are joining for that experience. Otherwise, as others have said, it is way too crowded at all times, there are hardly any weight machines and they are always taken, the sauna, water fountains, and lockers are constantly broken, the layout of everything is super cramped and the machines feel like they are on top of each other, and as of this morning they can apparently just raise the already incredibly high prices at any time they want to.

New membership is easy. I did it online. New membership comes with a 60-minute assessment from a trainer. The locker room areas are spacious and kept clean. Enough equipment that there's never a wait for weights or cardio. Great little juice bar with healthy options.

I too was excited for this location to open after being a fan of others. But this one is a disappointment. 90% of the day the gym is overcrowded. It's not a small space, but the way it's laid out it feels tiny. All the machines and free weights are cramped together. Sometimes it's so cramped people are working out under the stairs lol. Yet there is a huge section in the middle of the gym like 40' long for membership sales desks- That's prime workout space unused most of the day.And forget trying to navigate the squat rack and cable crossover area; it's so crowded there I'm surprised there haven't been any injuries yet. On top of that, they are missing several important basic gym machines. This gym could do with a total reorganization of equipment to bring it up to par with the other locations.

The gym is beautiful! The THRIVE staff/trainers are super friendly. But the management for this gym does not care about customer relations at all. I've been a part of a gym since I was in high school, I worked at gyms, & I have been a trainer....& this is the worst experience I've ever had with a management team. They signed us up under the pretense that we are enrolling for a promotion, then proceeded to overcharge us by $200/membership. When I inquired about the charge, they said the sales rep was misinformed about the promotion. City Fitness did not do anything to correct the issue even after weeks of back and forth. Although it is worth mentioning that the manager for the private training THRIVE felt so bad about our situation that he offered us a few free sessions as an apology. We cancelled our memberships with this gym solely because I do not want to be a part of a gym that completely ignores their clients & does not care about customer relations. To this day, the manager of the gym claims that we did not sign up for the correct promotion and takes no accountability for the mistake of his staff member (although the sales rep texted to admit his mistake, still did not make up for the few hundred of $$ that they overcharged us & never returned).

I've had a gym membership since I was 15 yrs old. I've got a few greys, so that is a long time ago for context. No matter what kind of gym I've belonged to, whether it was a whole in the ground sweat box or a massive techno vanity box, one factor remained true. My enjoyment of the gym had a lot to do with the staff that ran it.The City Fitness on Passyunk has truly blown me away with their customer service. From day one I've been greeted with smile and hello from an extremely friendly staff and the building maintenance is fantastic. One day they went even further. I lost a very small plastic ear piece to my headphones that without it makes them useless. I reported to Carly (Customer Service Associate - one of the warmest smiles you'll ever see) and Angie (very friendly and hard working Maintenance Tech). Before I could finish warming up they had found this tiny black piece of plastic and Angie cleaned it for me. Thus, I was able to fully enjoy my workout. The staff is the heart of a gym. This place has heart!
