USA Professional Karate Studio

after struggling with her self confidence, self worth, and bullying for a while, we decided to enter my daughter into karate at USA professional karate studio last year.i cannot express how much my daughter has found herself and grown since beginning karate classes here. i highly, highly recommend this studio if you and/or your kids are considering learning martial arts.starting in the eagles class, my daughter has not only been taught karate moves and techniques, but important lessons about self defense, bullying, setting goals, self discipline, honesty, kindness, teamwork, and more. USA professional karate and it’s sensei (george) are very clearly committed to helping and bettering kids and adults through karate in all areas of their lives.through karate, my daughter has gained an enormous degree of maturity, self worth, respect, and found her voice. and we cannot thank them enough for that.

Sensei George is one of the greatest martial arts instructors I have ever met in my life. He is always engaged with his students during his classes, and makes sure to aid every student with technique work. The atmosphere is always welcoming to everyone, regardless of skill level.

George is an excellent teacher I’ve been to other gyms and while they were okay none of them could compare to USA Pro Karate

Great place to learn Karate for my son and very professional sensei; staff is super friendly.

Our middle son started here in March 2019- he was struggling at school and I was at the end of my rope in terms of shifts and changes we could make to help him. I had the erroneous perception that karate would increase his desire to fight with his brothers. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Sensei George Mowood is a treasure in squirrel hill. He is like the Cesar Milan of children, he knows how to child whisper, teach respect, give respect and help kids be their best selves. My oldest son is literally starting today. I wish I had found USA professional karate sooner but am so glad to have it in our lives now. Nothing is a panacea; but this place and this teacher have helped my family immensely

My son is a perfectionist and struggles when he isn’t “getting it” quick enough. Sensei has created a beautiful environment of kids supporting and encouraging each other to succeed and perform well rather than brutal competition and tearing each other down. The kids feel safe to try just a little more and risk failing and trying again because there is no shame here. My son has thrived in this environment and I am so proud to be associated with this amazing studio and to know George, the most patient and kind but stern and respected Sensei. All the love for this place.

I came into the school's Krav Maga program a rank beginner, never studying martial arts before and at 41, had let myself get woefully out of shape. When I started, I could barely get through the classes without collapsing to the mat sucking wind because my cardio was so bad. Fast forward six months and I was in the best shape of my adult life, passed a grueling level test that truly tested me, and it has truly improved who I am in every way.The school is small, the curriculum is Krav Maga Worldwide standard, but it's the instructor, George Mowod that makes it something worth a 5 star rating. He knows his stuff, lets you know when he doesn't, and most importantly, is a good teacher, seemingly meek and mild...until you see him throw a side kick or a series of knees. :)

I have been involved with martial arts (on and off) since the 70's and have visited or trained at a number of schools. Don't go here if you want to be a professional cage fighter, but otherwise this is easily the best studio for kids, families and anyone who wants to get all of the benefits of martial arts.

My 6 year old son has been going to USA Professional karate for 2 years and absolutely loves it. Sensei is an outstanding teacher - very patient with the class and also instills a sense of discipline. My son loves it so much he never wants to miss a class!
