I have been a CFIS member for several years now. I originally started doing bootcamps and personal training with Brandi Dion. The idea of CrossFit totally intimidated me but Brandi slowly got me into it and now I am addicted. Never in a million years did I think I would be climbing ropes, doing pull ups, and handstand pushups! The coaches are amazing and they've worked with me to achieve things that I never thought I could do. The community is also super supportive and welcoming to people of all ages. It doesn't matter how old you are, you are welcomed by the community.

I have been cross fitting since 2014 and I joined Iron Spider about 2 years ago when my work location changed and I couldn't get to my old gym easily and I will say it is the best cross fit gym I have ever worked out in. The facility is huge, with lots of equipment. Never short of anything, even during a busy workout. They can actually run laps inside, which is great in the winter. If you like working out or stretching on astroturf, they have that as well as the usual weight lifting mats. The restrooms are clean and spacious. But the most important part of a crossfit gym is the staff, and Steve, Mar, Dennis, Brandy, Jenn, and all the others are top notch. I thought I pretty much knew how to do things, but I am alway given great pointers and I know I have improved since joining due to the great coaching. The workouts are absolutely amazing and not just the standard WODs you see at most gyms; they start with a kill to work on, and then there is a WOD which is organized by how they affect your metabolism and by what type of stimulus is delivered. This is really effective and must take a lot of work to create. I have also met some great new friends here as this gym is very social and they frequently do barbecues, holiday parties, and have an annual summer harbor cruise as well as sponsor competitions. No matter if you are a fire-breathing competitor or just want a good workout after doing your day job, you can get what you need here. I highly recommend Iron Spider to anyone who wants to get fit and have a good time and meet some great new people.

I started working out with B&S Fitness in October 2007 to help my conditioning for tennis; I'm an avid player. And I always figured that when I stopped playing tennis, I'd probably give up my B&S workouts, too. But I didn't play tennis during COVID lockdown & still worked out. For various reasons, I haven't played tennis for a couple of months now, but I'm still going to B&S routinely. Why would I NOT go?!?!? Brandi & Steve are almost like family. They create a welcoming atmosphere for all of their clients; there's a genuine sense of community. No joke, I started talking to one of my neighbors not because we saw each other in our parking lot or at the mailbox, but because we saw each other at B&S.

Being new to Salem, I was met with open arms and to a great community of athletes who push each other each and every day. Coaching staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend to anyone new to CrossFit or new to the area looking for a gym.

I would give 10 stars if I could. I've been a member of Ironspider for almost 6 years. I joined assuming it would be a new place to get a workout in for a while (having tried lots of different styles of fitness in recent years). I had NO idea that it would end up being my second home. Most people join a fitness facility for equipment and in some cases that may include workout programming and an instructor/coach.First, Steve's programming is hands down the best you can get. And I've heard this from countless people who have had experience in a variety of other crossfit gyms.Second, the coaching is top notch. Not only are the coaches knowledgeable and attentive but you're goals are their goals. They wholeheartedly care about every person in that facility. And they know exactly how to individualize programming so it is accessible for any individual that walks through the doors regardless of age, ability or limitation. But the best part of the deal is what you don't know you're even getting when you start. The community! A group of people who are going to support you through your struggles and your successes. Good days & bad. Who greet you with welcoming hellos and depart with "see you tomorrows!" (even when the workout is tough and makes you questions if you'll come back haha). I truly believe that the key to achieving success with any goal is community support & accountability and you just can't find this level of community anywhere else.I have this huge family of people and I feel so grateful every time I walk in the gym.I went for the fitness, stayed for the family.

Strength, Courage, Confidence! CrossFit Ironspider has helped me grow so much! As a woman in her mid fifties (who is also not a natural athlete) I am beyond impressed with the coaches in meeting me where I’m at and making adaptations for various injuries! The community is incredible! I’m fitter and healthier now than in my 30’s!

I joined CrossFit ironspider back in October. The community and family atmosphere is what keeps me coming back! I was just jumping back into my fitness journey and they helped me scale the movements to help me become stronger and confident in each movement! I couldn’t recommend a better fitness community to be apart of!

I had absolutely zero experience with coached workout classes, lifting barbells, attempting a pull up, etc before walking in the doors at CrossFit Iron Spider. Now, I can't even imagine what my life would be like if I never did. I am definitely fitter, but I have also gained pride in myself, I've gained great friends, and I've learned what I'm actually capable of.The coaches are absolutely amazing. Supportive, caring, and fun. They explain the movements and can modify everything based on individuals and their needs. The other members are always supportive and welcoming.I couldn't recommend Iron Spider enough.
