Great gym, amazing supportive culture that lifts all the girls up. We started in recreational classes and have been in the Xcel competitive program for four years. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

SoCal Gymnastics ReviewMy experience with SoCal has not been ideal. If you are looking for a nice, clean and safe gym to bring your child to have some fun, learn gymnastics, and get some exercise, i recommend looking elsewhere.Safety at SoCal is my number one concern. My daughter was enrolled by her mother in this gym approx. 2 years ago. In that time my daughter has had multiple injuries, including both ankles sprained to the extent they will need to be permanently taped up, and even worse, a concussion requiring a CT scan. Th gym was completely unaware of the concussion and latest ankle sprain (that was bruised for months), making me question the level of supervision the kids have while practicing their skills. The gym didn’t know of the injuries until i informed them of it, and also admitted my daughter is often goofing around and not doing gymnastics.Another concern is the lack of communication. As I mention in the above paragraph, my daughter’s mother enrolled her in this gym, without my consent or permission. Other gyms in the area require both parents to sign the paperwork and agree to the parent handbook and costs, I have never been given a handbook or any real breakdown of what I have to pay for. They use an app for schedule communication that is buggy and not reliable, and other parents have also admitted they do not like the lack of communication. The gym itself is in an older warehouse area of south San Marcos, not convenient drive for anyone, it is old, dark and doesn’t seem very clean. the parking lot is a mess, with a “recovery” type church program on one end of the shared building. At night it is very dark, not well lit and dangerous amount of cars driving in all directions due to not only the gym, the softball and soccer coaching businesses also located in the same building. For the amount of money the charge, they are certainly on the higher cost for gymnast businesses in the area, the gym is very lacking in equipment and support.Lastly, my few interactions with the gym personnel have been very disappointing. Gary, the owner and husband of the head coach, made it very clear in my very first visit they were there to make money. The coaches are distant and not friendly. The head coach has interacted with me the most and doesn’t give off the warm friendly “family” vibe that i think is important, and in email communication has called me “very annoying”.My daughter had been attending another gym, Oceanside Gymnastics, with I highly recommend. That has that warm family feeling, was significantly cheaper cost-wise, and a much better approach to training young gymnasts.Good luck in your choice.

I would recommend SoCal Gymnastics Training Center to any of my friends or family! My daughter is a student in the gymnastics program and my son is taking tumbling. I have been thoroughly impressed at how attentive and intentional they are about teaching each individual student. They focus on safety, form, stretching and personalized instruction. As a parent, all communicate with staff and owner have been be professional. I'd like to say THANK YOU 😊 to Angela Pires for Olympic quality training and clean/safe facility you have at SoCal Gymnastics!
