Looks alot better than before. Nice to stop by and check out. Mats are clean, holds are clean. Jenna and the set crew did a great job.

Was pleasantly surprised from the last time we visited, which has been several years ago. The new owner seems to making changes for the better. I wished we lived closer, would visit more often.

I am an experienced boulderer, and I want you to know that this gym is unsafe before you purchase a pass. One of the most important aspects of indoor climbing is the routesetting. Routes needs to be set in a thoughtful manner and tested to ensure they are rated properly and safe. At Vertical Hold in San Marcos, the majority of the routes were clearly just thrown up, with absolute beginner routes on high overhangs (no way could or should any beginner do that!) while others had obviously not even been run by the routesetter. Much of the joy of bouldering is the opportunity to hit one's limit and spend a few days returning to figure out a "problem." I found no compelling problems at that gym; it was just full of tragedies. I can't speak to the quality of the top-roping, but I have to think most of the positive reviews left here were not by people who went to the gym for bouldering.

I brought my 3 kids and husband for the first time and they all loved it! Definitely will be back. Staff was super helpful and we found so many levels of difficulty, even the 3 year old had fun! Seriously best vacation decision yet!

Amazing gym. Everyone there is so nice and helpful. Justin handles everything needed quickly and efficiently. He's also great for pro tips on any climbing challenge you are facing. This is my regular gym after years of searching for the right location and activity to keep in shape.

This climbing gym is great! Since VH took over Solid Rock this guy has seen a lot of tlc. It's one of the only gyms in the area with a Moon board!

Pretty cool rock climbing gym. There are a lot of different paths to follow and a lot of cool structures that mix things up. Plus there is a couple bouldering areas. Definitely worth a try.

The smallest of the three Solid Rock Gym locations but the staff seems to be the friendliest. You'll be engaged as you arrive and let them know if you need some advice, they'll chat with you. Two small boulders and not much lead climbing space. There is a small free weight area but no fitness equipment.

Going to Solid Rock Gym is literally the most venturesome thing to do in the San Marcos. The gym is clean and the staff treats you like family. The music is stellar. The lady's night promo is super tight. Would highly recommend to anyone. I'd give it two thumbs up and a high five.
