Absolutely awful sign up experience. The gym is nasty and not clean. The instructors are not teaching in a safe way. And worst of all, the sales and management staff are super rude and use a bait and switch tactic to get you to sign up. And if that's not bad enough, if you complain and the manager finds out who you are, she will tattle on you to your employer. CHILDISH.A word to.the wise: Find a gym that treats you nice..

I had a very great experience with the staff there. I was visiting Santa Barbara for a wedding and needed a gym for while I was there since I’m competing in my first NPC show in 2 weeks. The staff was super accommodating, Tristan and Sergio were super generous and helpful to myself and my family who I brought in as well. Highly recommend just for how great the two were!

Very disappointed in the staff. To summarize the situation: I walked in requesting a three day free trial, and Lauren persuaded me to "try the gym for 1 month for just 1 dollar." She guaranteed me that there would be no other fees or charges if I canceled within a month of signing the contract. A month later, I decide that I do not wish to continue my membership, but I was being charged a $60 fee even though I followed her exact instructions. After speaking with multiple people about my situation, all I received was, "I am sorry about your money loss, but there is nothing we can do about that. Why don't we give you another month for free to make it better?" I understand it's a business here, but I didn't expect to be lied and conned to. On top of that, the gym is crowded and not very clean; definitely not worth $60 a month. Would not recommend anybody to join this gym.

Hasn't changed much in 25 years. Good no-frills gym, pretty well equipped for cardio upstairs, and weight training downstairs.DB's go to 125 lbs.Bummer that they did not open on time 10/11/23. Many people waiting. Do better! It's 2023, intall remote door locks or something. Opening on time is most important for those of us there at 5:00 AM.10/11/23 10:00 a.m. update: management reached out to me to apologize for late opening, I accept. Added a star back for responsiveness.

I visited this gym once as part of my hotel stay next door. I was asked to provide phone / email info to use the gym and opted out of any marketing communication. Since then, I have been bombarded with text messages several times during the week advertising this gym … with no option to opt out, stop the messages, etc. I called the gym and the staff members had no idea how to resolve the issue other than replying “Stop” to the message … which didn’t work. On top of all of this, the texts come from different numbers … which makes it impossible to stop these annoying messages. This business practice is unacceptable, unlawful, and quite frankly, unethical. Don’t give this gym your contact details.

NO PARKING, rude staff, old building and equipment. For starters, get ready to park 20 minutes away from where the gym actually is, and I wish I was exaggerating.Blond male staff with a comb over is an absolute tool with no empathy; pretty much told me to upgrade my membership or hit the road. They did absolutely nothing to create a value proposition of why I should upgrade my current gold’s membership to 3x the cost for less amenities and a building that smells like mold while getting attitude.Went over to the other location that is closer to Goleta and had a real Gold’s Gym experience with friendly, knowledge staff that gave me their time and made me want to upgrade my membership.

Classic gym scheme. Super hard to cancel, management and sales at this place has no idea what they are doing. Was told it was a dollar for a free month and then got billed the full amount in 11 days. Then the sales guy Josh said that he told me it was a 14 day trial so that's why I got billed. Josh did not tell me this when I was signing up. Decent gym, everything kind of packed into one space, but the main problem is the clueless management. They need a new system.

The upstairs area is nice with plenty of benches and weights. The downstairs is lacking, not enough squat racks there is ALWAYS someone on it. I have come to this location anywhere from 7am to 8pm so its not a specific time window. A good amount of the equipment had pieces broken or worn down lettering so you cant see the weight. they are very outdated compared to other locations. Ultimately they need more/better equipment, its really disappointing to pay for a membership and have to leave early because of the lines to use equipment.

This is a decent gym - two floors with lots of equipment. The staff seemed nice as well! The biggest issue I had was that the treadmills are on the second floor and heat rises. Most gyms have something in place to control the temperature but the day that I went it was a balmy 76 degrees in the cardio area and was not pleasant to run/work out in. Even if they had windows that would open to let the fresh air in that would be nice. Either way, the temperature was just way too hot to get a good workout in. I visited this location once and then went to Goleta which was much better.

Several machines are half broken. The upstairs is hot and stuffy and the fountain there has been broken for as long as I can remember.
