Great selection of equipment and always clean. Much better than average YMCA if you like lifting weights. There is plenty of cardio and weight machines as well. No pool though.

You guys charge $60 a month for one gym membership but can’t get air conditioning in your gyms? Not only is this dangerous but as a member it makes me wonder where all that money goes. The only thing you guys seem to update (here and there) is workout equipment. Safety and comfort of your members should be your number one priority. Bottom line

I love the South Hill ymca . It has the most workout equipment especially for strength training. I am worried when the new facility is built that will all go away . The larger ymca’s are mostly all pools and basketball courts and very little workout space . Hopefully this large workout area will transfer to the new facility.

*Edit at bottom*I got a membership here yesterday, everything was as going great until I was discriminated against by the front desk attendant. I think her name was Jennifer or Jessica, and she came over to me while I was working out to let me know that I was violating their dress code that stated no midriffs may be showing. I was wearing a long crop top and long pants. She told me she'd "let" me finish my workout this time, but not to wear a crop top to the gym again. I looked up the dress code and it only states that you must have a shirt and non marked, closed toed shoes, and that your outfit be appropriate for a family friendly setting. I've worn the same shirt to jump for joy, the trampoline park, and many playgrounds with my son. It's a long crop and maybe a quarter inch of my skin was showing. There was another young woman there who was wearing something very similar to what I was wearing, but she was less curvaceous than me. The attendants said nothing to her about her clothing. The dress code does not state anything about a midriff and the "family friendly attire" rule needs to be updated because it gives way too much room for error and power on the part of the employees to discriminate and body shame as they see fit. Very disappointed. It's 2023 and we don't shame women for their bodies anymore. Especially other women. Get with the times. I will not be using this location again.Edited to add that the director of this location did call me to apologize on behalf of his staff and we had a good conversation about how he is on a board to implement a more reasonable dress code because he agrees it could use adjusting. I appreciated him reaching out!

my mom got a membership and they did not inform us that i have to take a class because i am under sixteen and can not work out without taking a class to learn how to use equipment. we then talked to them about informing people of the new requirement they proceeded to raise their voices at us and tell us we had to take the class they did not inform us about. they also tried to tell me that my mom did not go in and sign the liability form when she did. they told us we were the 14th people they’ve had to talk to about this which means they are doing something wrong. they were very rude and had awful customer service.
