The Downtown St. Louis YMCA at the MX offers a comprehensive workout environment with modern equipment and friendly staff. Located at 605 Locust St, the gym maintains cleanliness and provides all the essentials, including cardio machines, free weights, and several fitness classes. Members appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and well-maintained facilities, making it a popular choice for various fitness needs.

Despite its smaller size compared to other locations, this YMCA remains effective for a standard workout regimen. However, some users have found parking challenging and feel the operating hours could be extended. The facility does not open on Sundays, which could be inconvenient for some members.

Update:2 days in a row... Zero notice whatsoever. As a business owner, I know how simple it is to update online listings and to send an email to clients. Takes less than 5 minutes.I do not recommend this location to anyone who appreciates the value of time.- - - - - - - - - -Their online listings state that they’re currently open.I never received an email from them, informing me that they’re currently closed.Would’ve been nice to know prior to wasting my time. It’s not quantum physics—it’s common courtesy.

This is a great "pocket Y" with all te cardio machines you would need and a great weight program. There are some limited classes (yoga, strength training, occasional spin, Body Pump) mostly in he mornings or midday. Clarence at the front desk will greet you with a smile, and Sam, the fitness manager, is always helpful! Ask about personal training with Tanya! The only limitation is that the facilities close at 7 and are not open on Sundays.

They advertise a free day pass all over town and inside the gym. I went down there to try it out with interest in purchasing a monthly membership however Clarence, at the front desk insisted on charging $15. When I asked for the membership director Clarence told me he was the membership director while the website clearly states David McDaniel is. Anyway, It’s too small of a gym to charge half of a monthly membership for a “free day trial”. Just warning anyone interested in a “free day trial”. It’s not free don’t waste your time.

The Downtown Y is an excellent choice for those looking for a straightforward workout experience. While the space is not as large as other YMCA locations in the region, the size suits the space and crowd very well.Beyond the general exercise area where there are the are the aerobic machines, weight machines, and free weights, the space also includes two large classrooms that are used for a variety of classes offered by the Y (yoga, spinning, etc). The machines all are in good condition and are up-to-date. WiFi is also available throughout the facility. The locker rooms are spacious and offer many of the amenities one might expect (steam room, showers, hairdryers, and so on).The staff is very courteous and friendly, while definitely promoting the YMCA's core mission and fostering a communal space. The space is kept clean and looks very welcoming. The crowd using the gym is primarily composed of folks from around Downtown and the office workers nearby. The YMCA at the MX is great for those who have relatively basis workout needs. If your athletic regiment is more unorthodox (CrossFit or extreme powerlifting), you should probably consider other gyms.

Been here twice and I really like this place. They have a great staff, new equipment and a modern design. Locker rooms have showers in the sauna. This is a great YMCA
