I was skeptical about this group but I signed up for a 13 week all-level class as they’re the only yoga studio for miles. Unfortunately, I missed a couple classes in the first several weeks but wasn’t given the opportunity to catch up and was having an extremely hard time maneuvering poses as I’m a beginner. Obviously the intent was to participate in all 13 classes but life happens. I asked several times to come practice outside of class or even right before but I never received a response. I was in a lot of pain trying to figure everything out for myself while they all continued on like I wasn’t there. When I told them how much pain I was in, they finally responded saying, “please remember that we are all at different levels and yoga is non competitive.” I wasn’t being competitive nor was I at the level where I could preform any of the poses they were practicing as I wasn’t given the opportunity to learn them. I wanted help and they let me sit there in pain. They also didn’t sanitize any of the yoga mats or items used by others in practice. The whole facility smelled of stinky feet. I haven’t been to a class since and I’m out of $300. This place is very clique-y, they are extremely unsanitary, they blatantly ignore questions, and they don’t care about ensuring the safety of others.

Organic roots yoga is an asset for anyone interested in learning the fundamental principles of yoga. Home practice is strongly encouraged between formal classes. Resources for in-depth research beyond topics that are offered in class are regularly suggested. I have enjoyed all my time spent with organic roots and will continue to practice yoga out at the farm:)

I’m in my 60s and never did the yoga thing. Kipi and Selena insured that I understood the poses and different breathing techniques. The breathing techniques totally relaxed me and put me in a state of cleared mind.Never thought the yoga poses were that much but to my surprise it showed how off my balance I was and put different muscles to the test. Yes I was a little sore the next day but it was good.Kipi and Selena are totally in to helping others through yoga and anyway they can.Thank you 2.For others that are wondering about yoga. Or that just want a very relaxed stress free feeling after a great workout, then this is where you need to be

Amazing yoga, beautiful environment, accepting people. It has been a couple of years since I was part of a group yoga class. I signed up for a 12 week series - I am a 'beginner' and the instructors do a wonderful job of providing different poses that stretch you in whatever level you find yourself in, always encouraging you to meet yourself where you are, not to judge yourself but to accept wherever you and your body are. These classes over the last several weeks have been an investment in myself, both physical and emotional, and are a beautiful intertwining of body and soul. In my class there are women and men from all walks of life, of different faiths and religions, and the whole spectrum of personalities (which I LOVE). I have enjoyed connecting and getting to know everyone in the class, it can be hard starting somewhere new and not knowing anyone, but this is a welcoming environment where friends are made, you connect with others as well as with yourself. We set goals at the beginning of this series and seeing others and myself make progress towards these goals has been a joy. Thank you Organic Roots!!

The studio is lovely. It is equipped with the necessary items, those for comfort, and to assist each individual in different levels of practice. You are also welcome to bring your own mat, etc., if you prefer. We are invited to set up our space next to someone you we don’t know yet to, as Selena says,”make a new friend!” Selena and Kipi walk around to gently assist anyone with asana alignment. And they are always happy to share from the depth of their knowledge of yoga to one and all! The atmosphere is one of encouragement, acceptance of self, and support for each other. They love what they do, and it shows! It’s great!

Why Organic Roots? Let me tell you my reasons. I’m an introvert so I don’t easily join in events with people I don’t know. I had been interested in taking a yoga class for years. But that’s not how my experience with Organic Roots started. I met Selena & Kipi at the Organic Roots Farm during a foraging/herbal/plant class. They were both down to earth and friendly making me feel welcome. Then I, with a friend, attended a couple of the book clubs they hosted at the farm. What struck me was the variety of people, their ages, their backgrounds and faith walks. It was once again welcoming, inviting and no one judging another. All were at ease, talking and laughing together having a great time. I took note to look for future events. Finally, I read about a 12 week yoga class being offered with Selena. I thought about it, my good past experiences and decided to attend. And I love it! It's time set aside for myself, for my health, both physical and mental. It’s women of all ages, abilities, interests and goals. It’s making new friends, learning about setting healthy intentions, becoming more aware of thoughts and feelings. It’s sharing, laughing and yes there’s been some tears. It’s about being real, learning some new things and letting go of the things that no longer serve us. It’s about being yourself without the worry of trying to fit in. It’s stretching me in more ways than one. Those are my reasons. What will be yours? BTW, I’m signing up for the Gentle Yoga Flow starting Jan 2024 with Selena. Hope to see you there!

If you are looking for a welcoming, all-inclusive, local Yoga studio in the Hampton Roads area, look no further. The natural setting and welcoming family/friend atmosphere that Selena & Kipi have cultivated will restore and inspire you. You will experience next level growth, no matter where you are in your practice. All of the teachers meet you exactly where you are in your yoga journey/practice. And there are SO many options to enroll in...12 week series, community events, Masterminds, Life Coaching, Yoga Teacher Trainings...the list goes on! The love and care that the Organic Roots Team shares with the community is immense and I urge anyone looking for a Yoga family to reach out and become a part of their movement. Kids, Men, Women, Families...they have something for everyone.

When you take part in an Organic Roots yoga class, the experience is more than simply a yoga class. You become part of a community, more-so a family of diverse backgrounds who fully support and love unconditionally. …
