Sierra Fitness, located at 5455 N Kolb Rd, Tucson, AZ, operates as a full-service gym with a broad range of workout equipment. This fitness center is known for its easy accessibility, friendly staff, and excellent towel service. With the aim to cater to a diverse group of fitness enthusiasts, from weight lifters to cardio lovers, it provides an array of exercise machines and free weights.

However, they could use additional space for strength training and a policy for health safety, particularly regarding vaccination against COVID. While there are mixed reviews about the membership cost, the exhaustive fitness options and customer-oriented service are commendable. It's also worth noting that the absence of child care facilities and compact locker rooms might not suit every fitness-goer's needs.

  • Conveniently open every day with extensive hours
  • Ample free parking available
  • Friendly and helpful staff
  • Wide range of equipment for diverse workout needs
  • Excellent towel service
  • Clean gym environment
  • Focus on weight lifting crowd with extensive free weights and kettlebells
  • Responsive trainers
  • Provision of smaller exercise equipment
  • Good window views for more enjoyable workouts

Cons:

  • Lack of adequate space for strength training
  • No explicit health safety policies, particularly for COVID vaccination
  • The membership price is considered high by some

Staff was friendly and the gym was clean. However, they have a lot of equipment in a relatively small space making it hard to find a spot for strength training. Lots of cardio machines but in the end I found the $20 drop-in fee a bit steep.

It’s a great gym, with all the free weights and machines one would need. The 2 stars rating is because they do not have any policy requiring people to be vaccinated against COVID. That is scary and crazy

Easily met expectations. No frills gym that gets the job done. I read some Yelp review where the person said it smelled or something. That wasn't the case for me today...

What a great find. I was visiting Tucson and signed up for a week at this gym. Super well equipped but small enough to be very efficient. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Wish I lived here because I'd join!!

My wife and I have been working out here since January 2018. Very convenient to where we live, ample free parking and friendly staff. We know not to go at the really busy times so have had no problem gaining access to equipment we want to use. Enjoy the towel service, something other gyms we've belonged to either didn't offer or charged a fee.

I'm not a member at this gym, but I did look into it one day. Although it's located in a perfect spot, the membership dues are extremely high and they don't have child care. I got a tour of the facilities one day, and the guy was really nice to me, but he seemed to lack enthusiasm about me joining, and that combined with the higher price made me rethink my time there. I felt it would be unfair to leave a lower review, or anything higher than 4-stars since I didn't ever join. But again, it's a nice place. It just wasn't right for me at the time.

Years of experience in running a training, exercise, health and fitness improvement establishment are very evident here. The needs of the clients come first, not the "appearance" of spa-status stuff normally put together by marketing people. So towels, hand-sanitizer, staff-member within easy reach. Suddenly doors of physical fitness "open" I ever thought possible, Dan and other trainers are "trained" not just with degrees but with actual expertise. It seems there is nothing they can Not do; adolescent protective training, rehab, competitive athlete. Yet this can be a "do it yourself" place if that is what you want. Good window views, duplicate work out spaces, lots of small equipment with easy access, yoga, pilates, spin etc. if you want. Hrs. great. As older adult never thought weight training would increase four-fold within months. Bone density specific training sessions. Never crowded feeling.

For 90 dollars a month you can receive a spa that is actually just one shower and all the weights that you would expect anyone who has ever done a curl in there life to own at their own home

As one reviewer said "they focus on the weight lifting crowd" and I am glad they do. There is enough Zumba and Pilates in the world already; I was looking for a gym that has ample free weights, kettlebells and similar, and this place delivers. Paying more means I dont have to wait while three others are in line for a particular station. Moreover, precious few people in upscale gyms like this will hog a machine while texting or just chatting with their gym buddies, unlike in the $10 places I have been to. The trainers are friendly to ALL customers not just their own. Towels are provided. The bathrooms are nice and clean.I think, as always the adage holds true: You get what you pay for...

Sierra Fitness is twice the monthly price of other health clubs, and in a fantastic location, yet it is one of the most poorly run and badly maintained clubs I've ever been to.Actually I should qualify that statement by saying that the club management focuses entirely on the weight lifting and personal training part of the club, which seems nice enough, though not any better than what you'd find at a typical Gold's Gym or LA Fitness. The movement classes, however, are another story. The studios for aerobics, Zumba, yoga, Pilates, etc are in a seperate building and are treated like seperate entity, in the sense that the rooms are rarely cleaned, poorly maintained to the point of being a hazard, have broken and out of date, very low quality equipment. For example, the music system in one of the class rooms has been broken since I joined in November, 3 months ago. Another example, one has to be careful which step bench one chooses, as some are cracked and give way.The class schedules are rarely updated and in fact the girls working the front desk can not tell a customer what class is taking place when, or even direct clients to the proper studio in which a class is being held.Class instructors are quite good, but are often frustrated from having to struggle with dirty conditions and inadequate equipment.Locker rooms at the club are actually just restroom areas and are quite tiny and narrow, not really a locker room at all, just two toilets, a sink and a dressing "niche"Sierra Fitness' monthly membership price is just over $100 a month, compare this to Tucson Racquet Club, which has more daily classes, @ $50 a month, and all the various Gold's Gyms and LA Fitnesses which don't have many classes but much more lifting equipment and machines, which are $40 and below a month.
