This YMCA isn’t just a place I workout at, it’s a welcoming community I look forward to visiting regularly. Staff are helpful, well informed and they always greet you with a wonderful smile. Dominic especially has a kindness that people gravitate to.It’s a busy center with the kids area filled, swimming meets; outdoor park; an indoor and outdoor basketball court, and many group classes. There’s always a knowledgeable trainers on the floor ready to assist and answer questions. The facilities are clean and well kept. It’s a very old building but well maintain. As a Y member originally from Mass whose used my Universal access in several states, my 19 y/old son and I are happy to call Kent our home.

Welcome to the YMCA, where open gymnasium actually means it’s booked. Countless times I’ve come to play basketball because the schedule says open gym and the gym gets taken over by activities that could easily be done in one of the other open rooms.Don’t come here and actually expect any of the schedules are correct.

They like to fire people without coming up with proper information considering the employee as well. Luckily, for them, I didn’t have access to a lawyer back then.

We had twins that were babies and I'd been inside for 3 1/2 weeks during a snowy and icy winter in 2013. Our family lived out-of-state. The babies were 10 months old and we joined the Kent County YMCA. After a month or two, I could leave the babies in the Kids Care room for two hours... well... I usually had to go change a diaper, but then I could go back and do yoga. Or swim. Or walk on the treadmill. Or - best of all - sit on the recumbent bike and leisurely read a magazine. I really like the staff in the Kids Care, and the front desk staff were always kind and welcoming.Having family out-of-state, I really needed those smiles. I highly recommend the Kent County YMCA. There is an integrity in the staff that I appreciate. They do the right thing. It is a safe place for the community, and it is easy to sit in the lobby, have a snack with the kids, and then let them have fun in the Kids Care. I would watch the kids through the huge wall-length glass window whenever I felt like it. Or, when they were babies, I would sneak over the side of the babies' area and make sure they were okay. They (mostly) always were. Lots of toys, big mats, lots of staff. Kind people. Babies smiling. Mommy happy. If there was a problem, the staff would find me and let me know. It is a very safe place to leave babies and kids. We've been going since 2013.

I joined when I was pregnant and initially loved the kent county location. Everyone was wonderful to me while I went through a difficult pregnancy and took the classes I had the energy for. Instructors were wonderful about accommodating me so that I could participate and get the most out of my workout. I was repeatedly told during my tour about how great the childcare would be once baby came. However I just returned for the first time postpartum and was told that even though I was given a tour of the childcare facilities and they were explained to me during my initial tour, they are not included and are actually an additional $50 a month. Imagine my surprise To have kept my membership active throughout the end of my pregnancy and early postpartum to be told that none of that was accurate. Went in today and Not only could I not use the services I was told were included, I found out I wasted all of that money keep my membership active postpartum.

It's great for the kids! They love the playroom with the bouncy castle. It's clean and most of the staff are friendly. The pool is nice. We are glad we joined.

Cancel activities left and right, pool was closed several times for maintenance. In the workout area there are usually warning cones and wet spots from where there is leaking making things a bit dangerous. I left voice messages for a staff …

Relatively clean facility with multiple recreational areas however staff can be rather temperamental and classes mediocre. Our interest in swim lessons prompted our visit to this YMCA; however, we were met with a rather rude, unwelcoming aquatics director who either did not answer our questions or brushed them off in a pompous manner. The aquatics classes left much to be desired -- The lessons taught relative to the skills required for progression to subsequent swim levels are out of sync and give an impression of a haphazard teaching schedule; this, combined with discrepant records on any given student's enrolled class -- computer records stating one thing, teachers apparently thinking they're teaching another thing, and enrollment staff trying to decipher the entanglement -- is more than disconcerting, especially given the importance of properly synchronizing teaching skills to the degree of risk associated with interacting amidst a water environment.Suffice to say that since our initial introduction -- and after having subsequently participated in various activities at this YMCA -- deficiencies in the aquatics program and a deceptively subtle yet ever-persistent "chip on the shoulder" demeanor by the aquatics director has prompted us to look elsewhere for a more suitable, hospitable YMCA (Sad to express that at one time this same fellow went so far as to glare at us and, of all things, twirl around a stick while we respectfully picked up some chips that we accidentally spilled on the lobby floor). What once appeared to be a large, clean, well-equipped facility eventually revealed outweighing character flaws. We'll migrate to another facility that exemplifies a welcoming, safe, overall healthy learning and recreational atmosphere for adults as well as our children.

The staff is great. There’s so many activities to take part in. From the indoor basket ball court and pool and the workout area, to the playground and campground area to the side of the establishment. It’s great for all kinds of families! It creates a very friendly community!
