OMG, I love this place! I travel a lot and visit many gyms, but this one holds a special spot in my heart. I came to Capital CrossFit for a few drop-ins and to do my 23.1 Open workout.Don, thank you so much for the warm welcome and all the support. I loved the Harry Potter-themed shirts where the money has been donated to a local animal shelter. You really rock, Don! Stay awesome šŸ’Ŗ.

This is a great CrossFit gym. They have plenty of equipment and continually add more. During Covid the classes are limited to make sure everyone has personal space. The best part of the gym is the community and the coaches!

I joined Capital after being referred from another gym actually, and itā€™s been a fantastic experience.I originally came for the Jiu Jitsu, which was a massive improvement over the program I had come from. The owner is a black belt under Royce Gracie himself, and heā€™s managed to set up an excellent, thorough program. I was super impressed. The classes build off of one another, and the other coaches are all extremely qualified. Great class sizes as well, youā€™ll always have someone to roll with. With COVID, I decided to switch over to the CrossFit side to try and get back a base level of fitness, and itā€™s been a huge godsend. It can be pretty intimidating at first (I do not have a weightlifting background), but you pretty quickly get the hang of it. As with most workouts, you do get out what you put in - show up 3-4 times a week and youā€™re definitely going to notice. Coaches are awesome, always happy to help and stop to explain things. Really happy to be a part of it.Lastly the price - itā€™s actually a really great deal when you compare it to what you get elsewhere. A membership here which combines BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, and CrossFit classes is cheaper than other area gyms which charge just for CrossFit. Really happy I made the decision to swap over.

I was a member of this gym for awhile. It was okay at best. The Crossfit area was small. The coaching wildly inconsistent. A couple were decent crossfitters, a couple apparently came from different backgrounds. But, I never really felt welcomed at the gym (Iā€™m LE.) There would be group events that were never mentioned, ya know, high school stuff, but ā€˜message received.ā€™ No big deal, as thatā€™s become the new norm in a bunch of affiliates, so I mostly used the open gym hours (which even I have to admit were EXTREMELY GENEROUS compared to most affiliates!!! If you are a solo athlete, just looking for equipment ā€” not classes / community ā€” check it out.) The communication was never great. One Saturday I showed up to workout by myself. Apparently, there had been a last minute opportunity to host a weight lifting seminar, so the Crossfit area was closed. I asked the manager, Don, if he could grab a kettlebell for me when the class on break, set it out the backdoor (in the cargo loading alleyway), and I would put something something together for myself outside of the facility. Thisā€”apparently unreasonableā€”request was met with, ā€œNo, I canā€™t do that.ā€ Roger that, sir. Shortly after that impressive display of customer service, I moved on. Donā€™t misunderstand, I did meet some terrific and kind people there. This review is of the business (in Alexandria), the management and the general atmosphere (at least as it was for me.) If you are LE, there are far more welcoming gyms in the NOVA area. In this case, it would be worth a few extra minutes in the car.

Iā€™ve been a part of this gym for 7 months now and absolutely love it. When I first moved to Virginia from Georgia, I was living in alexandria and knew absolutely no one. After joining this gym, Iā€™ve met some incredible people and coaches and made leaps and bounds in my strength training. I have since moved from Alexandria to Ballston and still continue to make the commute to this gym because you canā€™t beat the quality. I would absolutely recommend!
