I’ve been to many CrossFit boxes in the CSRA and this is my favorite. The culture is welcoming to all skill levels. The owners work hard to keep it focused on fitness and drama free. And there’s lots of space so you don’t feel cramped during classes! I’ve been a member here for years and will continue to be!

Best programming you'll find around here. I have been a CrossFit addict since June 23, 2018 and I'm still sore and learning something new each week because of the smart programming and attentive coaching.

If you're not willing to accept mediocrity, this is not for you.Owner told me this is just a "hobby" for her and her husband. You'd be hard pressed to see them there on a consistent basis. There is a General Manager, but in my experience that individual has no authority and is just a figurehead. The absentee owners explain a good bit of why things are the way they are. When we first started in March we thought things were good there. We felt welcome and had visions of making good friends and enjoying another Crossfit community. We were sadly disappointed to find out that this place doesn't work to build a community. Simple things like in house challenges and contests to bring people together do not happen here. Heck, they don't even have t-shirts for sale. After a few months here I was approached by the owners as asked why I wasn't as "lively and loud" as I was when we first started. After a day to compose my response I sent it to the owners. My response was immediately shared with some gossip queens in the gym and instantaneously my wife and I became black sheep and those so called "friends" would not acknowledge our existence. I knew right away that the owners didn't take member input seriously then. Offer up any criticism about how things are or could be better and you are shunned. Another example of this lack of concern for members occurred after a recent influx of new members when the on post classes were canceled. Some new people came to the gym, many of them good people. This created some larger afternoon classes. Out of the blue one Sunday evening, it's announced that class times were being changed, effective the next day. No input from the paying members was asked for regarding the times they'd like to see. I was told by one owner that she made the decision because of equipment shortages and if it was inconvenient for some members she can't help that. My issue with it is that she didn't ask the members, or refer to a poll she took 3 months prior where members did offer feedback to new class times. She disregarded what members then asked for, and this time did not even care to ask.Since I was again one to state some disagreement with how things were run, later that night I was called up and told I could no longer be a member of the gym. The owners think they are running a great thing. Once someone disagrees it's game over for that person. Anyone who has done Crossfit at a good gym will see this is the type of place that give Crossfit a bad name. The current atmosphere either has you in the "owners friends" clique or just "someone financially supporting the owner's hobby."It's a sad story really. From what I know, there have been 3 owner changes since 2015 when I was last at Fort Gordon. The facility has some great space, it is large and roomy. They have a good rig for pullups, squat stations, rope climbs and ring work. There is a large wall for wallball stations and a roll out mat great for handstand pushup work or pre/post workout stretching. After that, things go downhill. They have mostly old and rusted barbells. There are a large amount of broken bumper plates, specifically having loose sleeves and cracks and chips in the rubber. There are several dumbells that have rubber either missing of peeling off of them. The dumbell and kettlebell assortment is limited. There has always been a broken assault bike that is unusable. The GHDs are old, broken and need dumbells to hold them down and feel secure. It seems the equipment just gets passed down from owner to owner and none of them try to improve the member experience. This is a stain on what Crossfit is trying to be.

Love this gym! My husband and I have been members for 3 yrs now and we couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. It’s truly a family feel at Stars and Bars! The owners go above and beyond to make it a warm and welcoming place.
