My daughter has been going to golden bear gymnastics for over 3 years, including Rec and competitive. I’ve got nothing but high praises for these dedicated coaches who spend time and energy into making it a positive experience. Communications are thorough and prompt, a great bonus for busy parents. It’s a great community. The only practical challenge is traffic and parking, which is eased by carpooling. My daughter has enjoyed many of the events such as the summer camp and occasional evening training/social nights. It’s helped to build self confidence, organization skills and team spirit. As a Cal alum, it’s great to be supporting Golden Bear!

I love being a Rec & team coach there. The kids work hard and are rewarded with self accomplishments

They actually have an assembly line of little gymnast in orderly fashion, with orderly water breaks, and a stern, yet still fun way of handling children with very short attention spans, and high volumes of energy. But they break the down in …

Just to be clear: this is a review of Golden Bear Gymnastics, a recreational and competitive program for kids 18mo-18y. There are a lot of things going on in this building that I am not reviewing, including: a pool, a snack bar, and the listed Cal Gymnastics Club (a program for 17+).My daughter has been going to Golden Bear for a few years now and has really enjoyed it. The coaches have been great. Sometimes they switch around a bit in the recreational classes, but we've been to other gyms in the area and it's no more than we experienced at those gyms. I really appreciated how supportive and encouraging her coaches have been -- they seem to "get" her and are able to help her grow and gain a lot of confidence (and, of course, some pretty awesome gymnastics skills!).As others have explained, there are recreational classes (ie. classes you sign up for on a monthly basis) and there are competitive teams. My daughter took classes here on and off for several years before really committing to gymnastics and trying out for the team. Now she's on the XCEL team (the less intense competitive track), which is a great fit for her and our family (great coaches, plenty of time in the gym, but time to be a kid, too).

Our kids have been attending a variety of Golden Bear Gymnastics classes for just over a year. At every level and with every coach they have had fun. We give GB a big thumbs up for their emphasis on focus, paying attention, and hard work. Best pluses of this gym are the snack bar, adjacent track, and wifi access.Review from C., 5 year old boy: "We learn different moves every day and they get funner and funner. My coach is really nice. " C gave this review after attending GB classes for just over a year.

We bring our son here for their parents' night out events, where you can drop your child off for a few hours for $35, IIRC. It's a great place to be - tons of gymnastics equipment, padding everywhere (for kids who tend to run into things) …

Great place for some laps. Never seems to get too crowded. In the hills surrounded by trees. (5 dollars to swim)
