Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) at the University of California, Berkeley, offers a wide range of fitness and sports activities. The facility features basketball courts, weight rooms, and various exercise classes. It's popular for its spacious interiors and well-maintained equipment. However, space constraints in the weight rooms and frequent crowding during peak hours can hinder workouts. The facility is known for its cleanliness and friendly staff, though some customer service experiences have been negative.
RSF is generally well-received for its amenities but has room for improvement in customer service and crowd management. The membership pricing is higher for non-students, and the gym's expansive hours cater well to early and late-night exercisers.
Pros:
- Spacious facility with various sports activities.
- Well-maintained and new equipment.
- Ideal for group exercises.
- Clean premises.
- Friendly staff (varies).
- Extended operational hours.
- Good climate control.
- Ample parking.
- Affordable for students.
- Competitive environment.
Cons:
- Frequent crowding and long lines.
- Some customer service issues.
- Expensive for non-students.

Almost $40k in tuition and Berkeley can’t expand the gym…. Always crowded from 7AM to 11PM.. almost impossible to get in your squats. Plus does not open at 6am. …

tbh pretty disgraceful in total. the weight room is way too small and needs more machines. the fact that there‘s need to have a „crowd meter“ is embarrassing. also atleast needs to be open 6-24 everyday.

The stories of unused cardio machines amounts to a solid chunk of Berkeley’s endowment. However, due to the lack of exercise machines, even when arriving at 730 AM on a weekday, one is guaranteed to wait at least 20-30 minutes for a single …

A campus gym not opening at 6am is unacceptable given the tuition students pay. There was a line just to get into the weight room by 745am and then when you get in, every machine has 2-3 people waiting in line for it. I'll update this when …

For a big university, this gym is pretty dismal in my opinion. It is old and the weight rooms are small, lack enough equipment, and are invariably crowded. It does not have adequate AC, which for a bay area establishment isn't a shock, but …

Good gym, equipment is new and the climate control is good (no tropical humidity as 24 hour fitness and other facilities have). Has a great weight room with multiple benches, machines, and mirror and dumbbell collections. Great working out …

Great place to work out. I love the group exercises. Make sure to avoid the peaks though, as it can get pretty crowded late morning and early evening.
