South Boulder Recreation Center offers a variety of recreational activities amid the beauty of Harlow Platts Community Park. Visitors enjoy basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, and a scenic lake with surrounding sidewalk. The center also features a small but well-kept pool, a gym, and a sauna. The facility is praised for its nice layout and architectural design, but some visitors request longer weekend hours and more drop-in classes.
While many find the center welcoming and appreciate the friendly staff, concerns about machine availability and lifeguard responsiveness have been noted. Despite these issues, the overall experience for many is positive, particularly for the accessible outdoor amenities.

Recreational center is cool. I’ve only played pickleball there. Very fun but can be bullish when it comes to new players Especially when it comes to players in color. I’ve only seen two of us out here so any frequent players of these courts …

I love the South Boulder Rec Center, but I keep hearing from the rec center staff that it doesn't have the same visitation as the other centers! So finally do a major upgrade and give us what North and East have. Then you will have more …

Maybe the police should be in the swim area since lifeguards won't protect my son from getting beat up in the pool. My son asked the lifeguards TWICE and they did nothing. He has bruises! Shame on North Boulder Rec center!!!

It’s terrible how paltry the offerings have become for drop-in classes in the Boulder Rec. system. Boulder is known to have a bloated bureaucracy ( by city size comparisons ). Citizens might be willing to overlook this if they are able to …

Nice facility and very nice staff (thank you, Megan and Sam!). I just wish the pool were open more than one hour a day, and I wish that they were open on the weekends.

It is small but good. Nice lake with sidewalk around it. The disc golf is fun, the outdoor volleyball is well kept for Colorado. The pool is small but well kept. Same for the workout area.

I’ve been coming here often over the past year or so and plan to continue. This is my favorite of the three city rec centers in Boulder! The layout is nice and the building itself is an architectural gem, next to excellent outdoor facilities and the beautiful Harlow Platts park. I only wish there were weekend hours.

I took a tour of the place inside it provides most of the recreational activities that I enjoy. Basketball, indoor gym, outdoor beach volley ball, tennis. Not to mention the beautiful out door scenery of the lake and the flatiron mountains.

The South Boulder recreation center is great, though I prefer East Boulder rec center. I come here for the walk around the lake, which my dog loves. There are also beautiful, newly-renovated tennis courts just behind the rec center, and …

They have a sauna which is awesome! Small which is nice besides when it's busy or you need that one machine to work the inside of your legs. Basically limited machines and space but it's pretty decent. 7.50 drop in adds up!
