Malkin Athletic Center (MAC) at Harvard University offers a diverse range of fitness classes and activities for its members. With access to facilities like a swimming pool, cardio equipment, and free weights, the gym caters to various fitness interests. This sports complex holds historical significance, with a plaque commemorating Teddy Roosevelt’s stay.
However, MAC faces criticism for its outdated equipment and poor air circulation. While it offers convenience with weekend hours, some users find its layout confusing and maintenance lacking. The gym's affiliation with Harvard also means access is limited to university affiliates and their families.
Pros:
- Wide range of fitness classes.
- Includes a swimming pool.
- Historical value with Teddy Roosevelt plaque.
- Usually not crowded.
- Long operating hours.
- Located at Harvard University.
- Cardio and strength equipment available.
Cons:
- Outdated equipment.
- Poor air circulation.
- Confusing layout.

The phone number tells you to go to the website, then hangs up. The website doesn't offer more than photos!#$&!

I went for a dance competition and overall the liked the venue; the only thing I would change would be the restrooms / changing rooms because they are pretty hard to find

Embarrassing that this gym is associated with Harvard. Bad air circulation, space is poorly allocated, and hours are always changing. This place should be gutted and renovated.

Hemenway is the nicer Harvard gym. This one has a plaque stating that Teddy Roosevelt lived there. Still a passably good place to lift. Two racks, one bench.

Outdated equipment, weird layout, but the best gym for weekend workouts as the Hemenway doesn't open until 10am and the Mac opens at 9am. Harvard seriously needs to update their athletic facilities and extend their hours of operation.

Unlike its cousin, Hemenway, the MAC is seldom crowded, and has a nice pool. There is not as much equipment, but this is usually not a problem.

This is a very good gym, if you can get access (Harvard-affiliates and their families). Many Harvard clubs have classes here (I did karate, boxing, and BJJ), there are also regular classes, a swimming pool, and all kinds of equipment.

The worst gym I have ever been. In fact, for a while, I could not believe this is a gym associated with Harvard. Even a gym in a random college I visited functions much better than this one.
