I’ve been working out at EFP two to three times a week for 18 months or so now. I suffer from myofascial pain and found weight training to be a great relief for that pain. I started at EFP when the trainer I’d been working with moved out of state and his program shut down. Rich worked with me and several of my gym “family” to set up a training program that worked for our schedules and budgets. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Rich and several members of his team (Jeff, Devan, TJ, Andrew) all are superb trainers. They really work to understanding the body and how things we do in our daily lives can bring on pain and muscle soreness. Rich and his team have been able to keep me moving and pain free. Rich also made webex training available during the COVID outbreak to keep us going in these challenging times. I would highly recommend EFP had a safe, clean gym where the staff really cares and you can get a fitness program tailored to your needs!

I've been a customer of EFP for 8 months now. I've trained in other gyms in the past but the thoughtfulness and attention to my specific needs is second to none. Rich and his team place a huge emphasis on functional strength, comfort, range of motion, and long-term health. I can't recommend them enough. You will feel like family from day one.

Rich O’Neill is my favorite trainer of all time! And I’ve had quite a few over the years! NO ONE could get me out of neck and shoulder pain like he could and also make me strong during and before pregnancy as a 42 yo woman.I trained with him for over 5 years in Boulder and when I’m home in Virginia, I have driven the 2 hours to see him. In fact, I am ecstatic that I can resume my training virtually with him during this quarantine while living in Colorado. I have missed his knowledge, care, dedication to making me strong, and overall complete knowledge of how the body works!! In addition, he knows solid nutrition and incorporates that into the daily routine. He just simply knows how to make you the BEST you can be!! If you want to be strong, healthy, out of pain, prevent injury, and be your best self, this is your guy.. without question. I’m envious if you live in Charlotte and get to see him on a regular basis when this quarantine is over. Charlotte is so fortunate to have this man and EFP. No idea.

Jeff Standish is incredible, but I would not recommend owner Rich to anyone. I had been going for a year, twice a week. Continued going through COVID-19, even when EFP was supposed to be shut down. I went in to work out one day and was told I had to wear a mask. I did wear the mask, but like any normal human pulled it down from time to time to catch my breath. At the end of my work out I said good bye to Rich and got a fist bump (if he had an issue, now would have been a great time to address). I come in 4 days later to work out (with my mask on) and was told by Rich that I was not allowed in the gym anymore (again he had all weekend to reach out and tell me he had an issue with me or have my trainer Jeff reach out). I asked why and he said my trainer (Jeff) would fill me in. Jeff had no idea what was going on. Meanwhile Rich is locked in the bathroom hiding. Long story short as a loyal customer spending minimum $150 a week, I was kicked out with no explanation as to why and still have not received a call from Rich with an explanation. As a paying customer, if you would like to be treated like this, go ahead, but EFP will never see another dime of my money.

EFP customer for over 18 months. Easy scheduling, clean gym with great energy, and professional. Quick pivot to WebEx during pandemic lockdown. I've worked with two trainers- Rich and Jeff- both who are attentive, tailoring work outs to my needs (counteracting desk job and pregnancy), answering my questions with science and research, and knowing when to push and when not to. Can't recommend EFP more.

Rich is the real deal! He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional just an awesome guy. All through out COVID he has kept me in shape and moving through Virtual work outs. Looking forward to the day the gym reopens but until them I am so grateful that Rich has been able to give me great work outs online!

LOVE Elite Functional Performance and Rich O’Neil. He always meets me where I am ... back sore - let’s stretch it out, sole of my foot hurt, let’s stretch out my calf. I’m most grateful for Rich’s commitment to excellence!

If you’re looking for a top notch gym in Charlotte, this is the place. All of the trainers at Elite are knowledgeable and helpful, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I came to EFF several years following a tennis injury (after no luck with traditional therapy). Rich O’ Neil was awesome- got me back on my feet in no time. Although I have received plenty of help with injuries and setbacks, I have stayed because they offer the best workout in town.

I highly recommend EFP to everyone regardless of age or fitness level! At age 59 I have significantly improved my range of motion due to a simple fitness plan for 2 of my problem areas, shoulders and hips. The plan also strengthens my core muscles which are the foundation for my total body wellness. Rich and Jeff have followed up with videoclips and pictures to further support my plan. Their combined levels of expertise, attention to individual needs and knowledge of fitness makes EFP perfect fit!

I absolutely love working out here! Jeff is a great trainer, and he tailors the exercises around everyday movements. His exercises alleviated my back pain. It’s worth every penny!
