Crunch Fitness - Ballantyne offers a comprehensive range of equipment and classes, making it a popular choice for fitness enthusiasts. It features numerous machines, squat racks, and barbell racks. The gym also has a selection of popular HIIT classes, with instructors like Sara K. and Debora C. highly praised for their motivating sessions. The membership is priced competitively, at $9.99 a month, which appeals to many users.

However, the gym struggles with overcrowding, making it difficult to access equipment during peak hours. Users report issues with customer service and misleading contract terms, particularly around membership cancellations and personal training sessions. Cleanliness and equipment maintenance also seem to be recurring concerns.

Pros:

  • Many equipment options including barbell and squat racks
  • High-quality HIIT and fitness classes
  • Friendly and motivating instructors (e.g., Sara K. and Debora C.)
  • Competitive membership cost ($9.99 per month)
  • Welcoming staff and community atmosphere
  • Clean and modern equipment
  • Additional amenities like sauna and hydro massage chairs
  • Trainers available for personal sessions
  • Consistently clean facility

Cons:

  • Overcrowded during peak hours
  • Issues with membership and contract cancellations
  • Some equipment maintenance and cleanliness concerns

If you plan on going to this gym just know that a few of the treadmills don’t work and ruined several of my workouts. When I mentioned this to one of the employees they just said oh it’s probably broken proceeded to test it out and agrees its broken then said just use another treadmill. Which I get what can he really do in the situation but he never bothered to put up a sign on the non working treadmills so the next person who gets on it will have their workout ruined too when it randomly decides to cut off. Which explains why this is a recurring issue. This place is too cheap to fix its equipment I will be switching to another gym unfortunately.

Deb’s classes are so motivating. She is very encouraging which causes me to push harder. Crunch is blessed to have her on the team.

I love this gym! The trainers are the best!! Jeff and Jay! They're amazing!

Always over crowded, always have to wait in line for an equipment, almost no one cleans the equipment, not enough parking spots Unless you hit the gym in the afternoon. Forced to buy personal training sessions, forced to pay extra month after cancellation, 49.99 annual fee charged within 60days. Overall this sucks.

Debora C is one of the best class instructors…she is so motivating. I take the Barre, Dance to HIIT, and Cardio Sculpt class cause I know I will get a good workout everytime!!!

I signed up online and stopped by to get my key tag, but didn’t workout. The same day my vehicle died on me so I never used the membership. These folks have me charged for close to $275 for something I’ve never used. I called and was told the account would be cancelled by one person then told by another I had to come in. This is ridiculous, I could understand being charged for a service if I had used it but this is crazy.

LOVE most of the classes, especially Sara's HIIT classes!! My biggest issues is cleanliness. The bathrooms and HIIT area need to be kept cleaner.

Best gym in Charlotte! The HIIT classes are unmatched. Love any class with Sara K and Justin! The membership cost is far less than any other gym in the area with these types of classes. It's an amazing deal!

After an incident of horrible customer service, I spoke with Travis Salazar, the district area supervisor, who happened to be in the gym the same week. Travis listened to my concerns and made an effort to improve the customer service at this location. While I am not in agreement with certain business practices (as a biz owner myself), nor do I care for the newly designed space post pandemic and merge with Fitness Connection down the street, I do love this gym for many reasons: the price, the proximity, the classes, and the instructors. The staff just needs to be coached on what customer service means and Travis is handling that.

Yes it’s crowded but it’s a public gym and there’s enough equipment for everybody. It’s super clean and the employees are super nice.
