Fitness Connection in Charlotte, NC, offers a diverse range of workout facilities but contends with several maintenance issues. Open daily with extended hours, this gym features various equipment, a sauna (often needing repair), and specialized women's areas. The gym boasts a handful of helpful staff members, but others have received criticism for unprofessional behavior.

While the staff receives mixed reviews, customer service and equipment availability remain major drawbacks. Patrons frequently struggle to find weights and deal with miscommunication regarding membership fees. Despite these issues, the gym retains potential but requires significant improvements to fully satisfy its members.

Pros:

  • Diverse range of workout equipment.
  • Specialized women's area.
  • Extended hours, open daily.
  • Some helpful and attentive staff members.
  • Convenient location.
  • Potential for great workouts if equipment properly maintained.

Cons:

  • Inconsistent customer service.
  • Frequent issues with equipment maintenance.
  • Weights often scattered, making them hard to find.

Fitness connection has to do better. The sauna has been broken for more than 2 weeks. This is unacceptable. You should have maintenance on standby. This is a business that we pay for.

Honestly the staff are so rude. I usually go to the one on Albemarle but the staff here have such a terrible attitude. Makes me not wanna go back tbh 😅. If you don’t like working there then that’s not my problem but your attitude is important especially if you’re working at a gym.. …

A review for the COMMUNITY... Because Fitness Connection will never be anything other than a large space with a lot of POTENTIAL!UNIVERSITY LOCATIONI've been back and forth about leaving a review because action from the facility will not happen. I've been a member for 3 years and these last 8 months have been awful. If you want a gym in which you play a game I like to call "WHERE ARE ALL THE WEIGHTS" This is your place. Lack Of Leadership (check), Minimal Weight (check) Temperature that matches outside (check) No Gym Etiquette (check) If I was someone in charge I would be nervous about Crunch Fitness. I've never visited Crunch Fitness where the weights are all over the ground and not on the racks.***Anyone who has ever been a member of a gym where there are (Premium signs and services offered) would never rate this gym more than a 3!1.5 Stars for the Facility5 Stars for: The gentleman at the front desk (has glasses) Star, what a blessing she is.

I ended up getting charged an extra month at 60 bucks/mo - due to the information the counter person provided at this location being incorrect. I called the help line, who chose to not be of assistance.as someone who writes everything down. This trip to Charlotte and visiting fitness connect will be my last.I do not appreciate having my money played with - whether it is 5 dollars or 60.If you're in University - go visit Crunch Fitness down the road or Planet Fitness.

Gym is whatever but you will spend 35 minutes out of every workout looking for the weights you need. Staff do not walk around whatsoever and put stuff back. I get that patrons should be doing this anyway but seeing as they don’t you really need staff members to do this, entire dumbbell racks will be empty for your entire workout with no explanation

There have been at least 15 occasions where this gym has opened 30 min to an hour late. Gym does not feel managed well.

Simone was of great service for me and my wife. We appreciate her answering all our questions about the services they provide and getting everything situated with us. On the other hand heather at the front desk was very rude and not helpful at all. Anyway thank God for people like Simone. 👍🏽 …

Originally this started out as a great relationship...This location was originally one of two I went to because of my work schedule. They sold the Ballantyne location and along with it apparently my membership. I wasn't made aware of this by corporate I finally got it fixed after WEEKS of phone calls and visits and talking to the GM Megan. I told them at that time (November) that I only needed a standard membership no All Access since there was only one Gym for me to attend. "OK no problem" was the answer. Later I got charged again in December for the "all access". I called and left a message at the Gym for the GM... no response. I let it go but then when they charged again in January. Since I go early in the morning and the GM isn't there that early I left a hand written message... no response. Without continuing the details this went on until I was told I would have to reenroll and pay the down payment and annual fee (which I had just paid) and she claimed to have tried to call me (NO missed calls from their number and no voice mail) and claimed she talked with corporate Customer Service. I subsequently called customer service (Now February and had been charged again after I had IN PERSON cancelled my membership with Megan.) Customer service, said "I don't know why they told you that". However still nothing from corporate either. I ended up having to file a claim with my credit card company to stop the charges. This organization is a disaster. Along with all of the other comments other reviewers left about unracked weights, equipment in poor repair and a men's locker room that smelled horrible even 1st thing in the morning.

Amazing staff, amazing equipment. Women's area is always clean and customer service is top-notch. However, I have encountered a couple of safety concerns with the members here. While leaving the gym at night someone tried to get in my car while I was in it. Also, my personal belongings were stolen out of my locked locker. If you decide to get a membership don't carry anything in the gym with you where you have to put your belongings in a locker. Always carry protection with you (as with anywhere you go).

Considering this gym has everything you would need for a great workout (except no pool); I have an issue with their basic maintenance upkeep. I have been coming in no less than 4-5 days a week for over a few months now. If you go right when they open at 5 a.m., why are the free weights strewn about in various corners throughout the gym instead of on the racks where they should be? This happens A LOT! People are not mindful to put equipment back for the next person and the closing staff doesn't do it either. Also the cable machines are missing some C clamps so if you catch a machine not in use, you still can't attach the proper handle to it. One of the handles has been broken for weeks rendering it useless. I know these things happen in lots of gyms, but not usually right after they have opened up for the day. So annoying! Constantly having to modify our workouts because we can't find the right free weights or handles for cable machines. These photos are just an example of what people left around. All of the free weights, the dumbbell and the barbell should be on the other side of the gym. These were taken in the morning so they were left out from the night before.
