This is a large climbing gym with a huge bouldering area with routes of all types and quite a few top rope options as well. The staff are friendly and helpful and got us on the walls pretty quickly after an orientation. We are experienced climbers and the ratings are definitely on the harder side here.Being one of the few climbing places around, it does get very crowded. However, the bouldering area was large enough that we were able to find appropriate routes away from the crowds just fine. All of their climbs are accurate in the Kaya app, so major plus there. They also have a cool little hand care station for any hand damage you end up with.

Dyno is a cool gym with great amenities and good routes. We have had good experiences there in the past. However, you don’t seem to trust your own systems. People sign waivers… which means they are climbing at their own risk. People also pass belay tests… which means they know how to belay. I’ve never been to a gym that doesn’t leave climbers alone to climb. Staff are there if needed, but don’t interfere. The vibe of “climbing is dangerous” and then having staff walk around watching people and offering unsolicited (and debatably not any safer) instructions that are then required is odd to me. I imagine it is this way because of the high number of new climbers that you get, which is fine and I totally get that you want to make sure people are learning and doing things safely. I’m sure folks who are starting out appreciate the support, but as someone who is used to gyms where members are allowed to do their own thing, this feels stifling and not very fun.

Having climbed at a few different gyms, the attentive and enthusiastic staff really make the difference at Dyno. It’s a great gym with tons of different routes, and great, clean amenities, but the thing I love most every time I climb is the professional, helpful, and safety oriented staff members.

This is by far the safest I have ever felt in a gym. They have staff walking around watching you while you’re climbing and making sure nothing goes wrong. Lots of times in other gyms I feel like the staff sits at the desk and never moves. Here there is always someone there to help. The owner is also the nicest guy ever and will chat and hang out with you. I love it here.

DYNO is the best! Cannot speak highly enough of how great this gym is. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, the routes are interesting yet accessible, the whole gym environment is open and clean, and there is a clear focus on safety for all. I can’t think of a single thing I’d want to change about this place except that I wish I lived right next door!

I found myself in Detroit for 24 hours to get a rushed passport (long story) but I had time to kill. Luckily I brought my gear ahead of time but the owner was extremely friendly and accommodating to my surprise trip to Detroit. The walls and routes are great fun and everything is very clean and pristine. The protein bites are awesome and the vibes of this place are what a climbing gym should be. Kudos for being awesome

Love this gym! The staff and owner are so welcoming and kind! They strongly focus on safety and the gym feels very inclusive of different skill levels, ages, and body types. The gym is clean, and the routes are fun and interesting! I wish I lived closer! My friends have set up a carpool group to make the 45 minute drive more sustainable. Thanks, Dyno!

Great place to spend a few hours. Very reasonable for prices. Great fun for a family or group of friends. They also have the tallest walls of any climbing gym I have ever been in

I love Dyno so much. My partner and I climb here around 3-4 times a week, even though it's about a 45 minute drive away from where we live, it is so worth it. The staff is so kind and welcoming and the gym has such a great atmosphere. It is always extremely clean in the gym as well as the locker rooms. I was new to climbing in September and became addicted ever since, I feel so fortunate to have DYNO nearby as I have went to other gyms since joining and I was honestly so disappointed. The student membership is such a great deal and I'm really grateful that they have made climbing so accessible for us. I love to bring new friends and family to introduce them to climbing and after I take them to DYNO they can't stop talking about it. There are so many top rope routes and bouldering options and they change the routes often, especially recently, so that you never get bored. I've heard of some people saying that the grading is too 'soft' but I have noticed that they have been making them a lot more difficult in the past few months. There is always staff monitoring and ensuring that everyone is safe, and if it's not too busy you can ask them to belay you which is awesome. There's an area upstairs for weight lifting and machines for cardio. There are also yoga classes that are offered upstairs and included with the membership. There is a first aid station at the front desk with bandaids and other supplies which I appreciate and almost always end up needing to use when I climb. As a woman, it is also so nice that they provide feminine hygiene products in the restroom, it really speaks to how much they care about their customers! Lastly, there is a large parking lot which is great as you never have to look for parking. We are very lucky to have this gym in Detroit. Thank you!!
