I’ve had my daughter enrolled in Academy for almost 3 years now and the staff is amazing! All the professors and coaches are very patient and encouraging, they bring out the best in these kids. I can’t even begin to explain how it feels to see how far along my daughters jiu jitsu skills have improved and the look of excitement on her little face when she’s at academy. Academy really does feel like a second family and I cannot imagine us going anywhere else.

I’ve been training for a little more than a year. I joined with two of my best friends and we’ve made it a weekly excuse to go to practice as a reason to hangout with each other due to our busy schedules. Although it started off as an excuse I soon realized how lucky I was to find such a unique community.The front staff is extremely welcoming and encouraging of your journey! I predominantly train with Professor Hector Beltran and he teaches in a very clear manner. He along with the other Professors try their best to answer all the questions throughout the training period, but like anything else the best lesson learned is through trial and error. The adult class can look intimidating with so many different people in one room especially when you first start. However, everyone is there to help you grow. Although there is no way around feeling helpless the first couple of sessions due to inexperience, there also isn’t anyone who is trying to hurt you. There is high level of respect, trust, and companionship that is built over the time that you attend. So, if you need a sign to join…this is it!

The amount of detail, structure and energy Each professor from (Black belt to blue belt) brings to each class is impressive my daughters have been here for a few months now and their game has evolved, not only because of their coaching and mentorship but because of each student that receives the same level of attention, You are only as good as your hardest roll. We love our Academy Family!

My kids have been in Jiu-Jitsu off and on for 6 years now. The progress I have seen in the 3 months we have been here is amazing. The classes are challenging yet safe. My child's confidence has increased exponentially (to a fault) because of how secure he feels in learning the material here.The staff is fantastic. They're friendly, helpful, professional individuals and I am excited for my kids to grow in this academy.

I’ve attended other Brazilian jiujitsu schools in Downey, and the team at Academy is superior to the others. I’ve learned so much more, the instructors are great group of experts that teach the fundamentals, are patient, and have helped me grow as a BJJ student. I got my start with BJJ at this school and cannot say enough good things about it. The staff are professional and skilled and the students are welcoming and friendly. It's got a family atmosphere but is still very focused on training. They train hard there and genuinely love and enjoy teaching the sport.
