I came to the Y to see if they would accommodate my special needs kid better than Hancock Wellness. The manager of the Y assured me that Logan was welcome and would be able to take full advantage of the facility and programs. It has been true and we love the YMCA?

Chrissy at the member services desk made me feel so welcomed. I'm happy to be a member again!!! Love the Y.

Member services misrepresented availability of classes when I signed up for a membership; spinning classes are almost always fully booked as soon as booking becomes available; swim instructor berated me because I brought my 5-year-old into the kids pool not realizing the entire kids pool was closed for 3 kids to have a private swim lesson and lifeguard. Finding any information requires navigating the app.

We signed up for a month of swim lessons, our two toddlers. We paid the whole month, and they decided to not tell us upfront that they were cancelling the last two sessions for the month. The reason is because the “instructors” were off. If I would have known this I would have signed them up somewhere else. I went to guest services and she was not friendly or helpful.

I was really sad that the YMCA took Covid as an excuse to stop offering services. No more free yoga classes, but you can take all you want for only $40 more per month is not protecting anyone. No more guest passes or visiting other YMCAs out of town, though the competition still has it. No more towel service, though the competition still has it again. The only indoor pool for kids was "open", but not when they have an adult class, and it had classes about 75% of the time so kids weren't able to use it, but zero classes were scheduled in the barely used adults only lap pool last I saw. They kept the outdoor pool open far too long since it got cold out, and kept the indoor pool for kids closed until the weather forced them. They finally reopened the hot tub (again, their competition didn't close), but too little too late. The music in the locker rooms was Christian (a plus for me), but they blasted sleazy songs over the outdoor speakers that I hope my kids didn't hear.I like the organization and original mission, but all told they quit offering about 80% of why I was a member (without paying extra fees) and happily kept their prices the same. Sadly, for about $8 more per month, the competition has nicer facilities, with all you could want & much more to offer that the Y never had.Sorry YMCA, but you've lost your way. If they go back to serving their customers, I will probably never know, as my family much prefers our new gym with nicer facilities that are open for just a few dollars more.

This place is amazing and truly takes care of my daughter with special needs! We love the pools and the staff! It is always so clean and everyone is so accommodating. We actually drive all the way from the southeast side to specifically go to this YMCA. It is well worth the trip.

Beautiful facility and lots of amenities for the price, just wish I knew more about them. Unfortunately I walked out just about as clueless as I was walking in. We are completely new to the YMCA and walked in to inquire about a membership and what all was included. One lady at the membership desk was kind enough to go over the numbers with us and even told us about a possible discount based on our income. Unfortunately that’s about all she offered in the way of information. She didn’t give her name, didn’t offer a tour or to go over any of the amenities and classes offered, even though she obviously had a binder with such information when asked about it. I had to ask for a list of classes/amenities included with our membership and when I asked if we could walk around to see the place she jokingly said “I mean unless you want to be accompanied...” and that just made me feel like she didn’t care or want to go. While it was apparent this person is new to their position, they don’t seem to have any clue what they are doing or how to offer good customer service at a facility like this. The other lady at the membership desk who was helping another family seemed very chipper and was making the experience very personal for them, she even remembered the one girl was going to be taking swimming lessons there. They had just returned from a tour of the facility and were signing up for their membership and the entire time she was engaging with them and smiling with the kids. This is the type of experience I was expected from this facility based on word of mouth. I really hope my experience over the next month is better than the sign up process or, unfortunately, I may cancel my membership faster than I signed up, that is if I manage to figure everything out on my own in the mean time. ☹️The people running the check-in desk were kind enough to ask us how our walk around the facility was and how we liked things. We are happy to see a Subway in the facility that will help make some meals easier after workouts. The pools are good sizes and look well kept. I’m especially excited about the spin room in the gym area of the building and plan to try that out soon. This is a facility I’ve heard very good things about and hope to continue to find the hospitality the individuals at the front check-in desk had to offer.
