Vida possesses a strong working knowledge of Pilates. Through her in-depth work sessions I have found new energy and a stronger life style. She has helped me with my posture and movement skills which in turn help me in my daily activities, golf and mountain biking fitness goals. Her focus on stabilization of muscles has greatly diminished my previous problems with back and neck pain.

It’s been almost a year since I last worked with Vida, but the effects of her teachings are still noticeable in my day to day. From standing, to walking, to running, to breathing, to yoga, to plyometrics, to weightlifting, the fundamentals that Vida teaches you can be applied to a multitude of your daily activities. She helps make you conscious of your deleterious unconscious habits. By gaining this awareness, you become more attentive to your body, which allows you to correct improper form when noted. Overtime, this leads to lasting improved form and optimized function. In addition to educating me about proper body movement, Vida also enlightened me about the different phases of my menstrual cycle and how I can use this information to maximize fitness and productivity as well as improve my relationships, including with myself. All in all, Vida empowers you to become more aware and attentive of your body so that you can live your best life. I am so grateful.

Vida Hollander of Body Sense teaches Pilates with such a soft voice and calm, caring demeanor that she must be a Zen Master in disguise. She is also demanding and persistent in requiring that I perform the exercises properly so that I get the full benefit without risk of injury. She regularly offers prompts or cues that help me engage the correct muscles for an exercise. When a particular prompt is not working for me, she is very resourceful at suggesting others until we find one that works. She is attentive to my aches and pains and minor injuries and tailors my exercises to relieve my discomfort and promote healing. Vida’s depth of knowledge of human anatomy, both skeletal and musculature, is astounding. I especially appreciate her use of that general knowledge to understand aspects of my body that impose limits on what exercises I can reasonably perform. While Vida’s classes are strongly based on “classic” Pilates, she adapts those exercises to accommodate my own limitations.Bill G.
