This gym is so unique. It combines personal training, cardio group, exercising, three-point, lifting, nutrition, advice, and you can actually hear yourself think instead of having to wear plugs because the music is so loud. The owner, Adam, has done major research and figured out these amazing workouts, all scientifically based. Every month you get an a new set of work outs( a, b, and c) and once you’ve completed four weeks of those you get a completely new personalized workout, which brings you further and further into muscle gain, fat loss and well-being. I really enjoy the trainers, and the small group says men and women that we find ourselves working out together with if I ever leave Iowa city, my biggest rock regret will be leaving this workout environment.

Walking through the doors of Iowa City's Grit Gym was easily one of the best things to happen to me in the dumpster fire known as 2020. Not only has Grit become a bright spot in my days through my training, it has also served to ground my mental health on rough days. I'm looking forward to working out at Grit to get me through our impending winter. I, also, can't say enough about the staff/trainers at Grit. Each of them are knowledgeable, informative and make training fun. Going into my 4th month of working out at Grit, I can say I remain injury free and feel stronger and more empowered than I can remember for a very long time. I look forward to more growth, physically and mentally, at Grit and consider the money spent there an integral part of my self care. Highly recommend. Thanks, Adam, Tori, Erin and Rachel! You all are the best.

GRIT is a hidden gem. The coaching staff and the environment they create in the gym has been incredible for me since day one. 3.5 years in and I still love going here. Night and day difference between the person who started and the person I am today. So much stronger and healthier! Knowledgeable and fun coaches, plus ever-changing workouts to keep things from getting too repetitive. GRIT is worth every penny.

I injured my shoulder two years ago. Since then I experienced waxing and waning pain and it was easily fatigued. I also have diabetes and for the past several years my cholesterol numbers have been abysmal.I spent three months training at Grit Gym. My shoulder (and the rest of me) got stronger. My diabetes remains under control, and my doctor was impressed by the improvement in my cholesterol numbers! The staff at the gym clearly understand the physiology behind recovery and strengthening. They are always positive, clearly want patrons to succeed and seem happy to be there. The other patrons were pleasant. There was not a competitive or negative environment. We encouraged each other and it was fun!Going to the gym was a bright spot in my day. I looked forward to going! I left because my spouse accepted a job in the Quad cities and we had to move. Otherwise, I would still be going to Grit.

Best gym in Eastern Iowa! If you want to invest your hard earned money on improving yourself, this gym easily surpasses any other gym in the area for return on your investment. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring, just the place to be if you're serious about improving your life!

Grit gym- is overpriced, manipulative and coercive in their business practices. When I simply went to look at the gym and consider joining, I was repeatedly pressured to join. When I said I needed to look at my budget and take the weekend to think about whether to join or not, the trainer said "why don't you just sign a contract and if you decide it isn't for you, I'll rip the contract up." I never should have agreed to this and take responsibility for not being more firm in saying I needed to think about it.After REPEATEDLY and CLEARLY stating I was not interested in joining to the trainer, the owner Adam called me to follow up to ensure there were "no hard feelings." He assured me on two separate occasions he would refund the $132 they charged my account. After a week passed and there was no refund he apparently changed his mind and said "We only want people to sign up if they're going to use it, hence the obstacle set in place of signing up fo the services here. Not so someone could get upset at us for their purchase." I posted on multiple social media sites what happened to me and MULTIPLE women wrote me to tell me of similar experiences where they were gaslighted, pushed or endured manipulative business practices. This is clearly a pattern of behavior and instead of shifting the blame to potential/past clients (particularly women) he might self reflect and own his sexist, toxic predatory business tactics.

I initially checked this place out to gift a membership to my sister. I’m so glad I did! She’s been with Grit Gym for about a year and is feeling and looking great!! They are absolutely wonderful to her and to me when I come visit. Very knowledgeable, extremely welcoming and caring.

Great people and knowledgeable within the fitness world. This gym focuses on more than just strength, but learning to strengthen the body as a whole by inheriting muscles that are not used on a daily basis. Great for physical overall health.

I've been working with Adam and his staff off and on for 8 years. He's the hardest working fitness/lifestyle coach I've ever known. Wouldn't trust my workout to anyone else.
