Had an awesome first time climbing at Sequence. Great routes, plenty of space, clean environment, and a friendly staff makes this place a must visit for a good workout.

A day pass is just under $20 not including any gear you want to rent. There are showers and changing rooms, a social area with couches, Wi-Fi, and kombucha and cold brew coffee on tap...The music is a nice selection, not too distracting from the climb, but also providing a nice background noise. Really chill place.

Sequence is a clean, beautiful facility to climb and work out. The staff are friendly and are always willing to help out with anything! The setting is consistently challenging and I can't wait to climb future sets.

The best climbing gym in Kansas City. Up to date with the best equipment and training area that will take your climbing to the next level. Also great place to study or get some work done.

Lots and lots of routes and space. It almost feels like there are too many routes to the point where there are routes just to have routes. Some feel kinda bland. But there's plenty to choose from! They have a really cool vision for the place, promoting bike use and the street car, showcasing a lot of businesses like local bakeries. The fitness area is well set up, except that the over head bars ij the squat racks, to do pull ups on, are too low. I'm too tall for all of them so I just have to bend my legs. Kind of stinks, but most people wont have to worry about that.

I love this gym. As a climber from Boulder that travels to KC and the Crossroads neighborhood for work quite often, I was psyched when Sequence opened. Great route setting, fun atmosphere, awesome staff.

I met the owner and another staff member and they were both super friendly and helpful. This gym has a ton of space both on and off the wall, so even when it's busy I imagine it doesn't feel too crowded. There was a variety of bouldering problems across pretty much every grade, and I found that the grading system encouraged me to try problems that I might not have otherwise. They have walls at every angle as well. The holds all had really good texture and there was a nice variety of shapes and sizes. I'm a novice climber, so I found the south wall especially nice because they only set grades V4 and below on it.The only discomfort I felt was that the walls felt a bit taller than I'm used to and the floor is particularly firm, so I felt pretty unsure about falling from the top, and there are no topouts. (EDIT 7/23/19: I've been learned that firm floors help provide more stability for the feet and ankles when landing, which can help prevent rolled or broken ankles. This makes sense to me, so this is less of a problem in retrospect.) They put up a lot of downclimb holds which is helpful, but sometimes they felt awkwardly spaced. Some of the problems above the cave looked notably hard to downclimb. The changing rooms separate from the restrooms are quite helpful because I typically climb after work, but I don't like changing into climbing clothes in the restroom. The restrooms were clean and spatious though, so it wouldn't be a big deal in any case. The workout room is fairly large and has various equipment in it. I feel confident that I could get a comprehensive workout here.I was able to attend a course on preventing injury that was quite informative, and the instructor was very friendly and willing to answer questions beyond what was covered in the course. I was also told these courses are free for members of the gym, which is excellent.Unfortunately I won't be able to go often enough for a full membership, but I will definitely purchase the punch pass and I plan to keep an eye out for more courses. I'm really glad I decided to check it out!

The options for climbing in KC has tripled since I moved here three years ago, but Sequence doesn't feel like just one more place to climb. The people there are welcoming, helpful, and very friendly. My friend and I are casual climbers but were able to enjoy 15+ routes that were clearly marked with appropriate difficulty. The space is also clean, spacious, and is a very relaxed atmosphere. It's a little pricier than nearby options (notably ROKC Underground) but it's also larger and has more options. Overall, I had a blast and will absolutely be back soon.
