Kent YMCA offers a variety of amenities, including a clean gym, swimming pool, and multiple exercise studios. The facility has new equipment, spacious locker rooms, and a small indoor track. The YMCA promotes a sense of community and security, with a recent focus on safety and staff training. However, customer service needs improvement, especially regarding responsiveness to queries and handling complaints.

Membership fees are a concern for some, as they are higher compared to other YMCA locations and private gyms. Additionally, there have been issues with child care staff and overall cleanliness in certain areas. Despite these drawbacks, many members enjoy the variety of programs and friendly atmosphere.

While all the equipment is new here, my review is solely on the child care area. I would give zero stars if possible and have already submitted my cancelation request for my membership based on this kent location. We went here today and all the workers in the baby area were on their phones, staring at their screens and not even looking, let alone interacting with the children. Then, I dropped my 3 boys off in the older kid play area where there was only 1 adult male there. There should never be one adult alone with children and there were a lot of kids in that area. My boys were wild and didn't follow the rules in the play zone, which are different from other ymcas we have been to in the Seattle area, so when this one guy worker got frustrated with my kids, instead of coming to find me, he grabbed by 4 year old by the leg and yanked him out of the play structure with physical force. When I picked my kids up and asked what happened because I knew something happened based on their demeanor, they told me what this guy did. I approached him and he got very defensive saying he couldn't leave to get me because he was the only one watching kids. This ymca is under staffed with lazy people who turn to physical violence instead of grabing the parent. I will never go back here and you should never leave your kids at the child care.

Your membership rates are insane! How is it affordable to all in the community. It’s would cost me $91 a month. I was always a strong believer of the ymca. It was my first job teaching out of college in 1996. I was always a member when I lived on the east coast, when I lived in Boston. The membership was affordable $55 for Boston. and $63 for Cambridge where I lived. Which was affiliated with the membership anywhere in the United States. Anyways I was super excited when I moved to the west coast 5 years ago and saw that one was building near me in Kent. So I joined immediately and was a member for 4 1/2 years then the membership sky rocketed again. I canceled but still an alumni for one of your program. Ok and seniors $71 a month unless their health insurance covers the membership. You should really chance your motto affordable to all, unless you qualify for income based. I heard from an employee that you have eliminated most of that. Your membership is actually higher then private gyms. What the heck?

Very clean facilities. The gym is spacious and the pool locker rooms are some of the nicest I’ve ever seen. Free lockable lockers. The pool is small but has everything you need. The staff are sometimes learning but they always work hard to help you out. Such a great community hub.

Normally this place is fine and staff are moderately helpful but I'm here today on May 12 2023 and from the signing in process to questions the staff member that I asked was being completely rude and condescending. First, during the sign in process he insulted my brother and I, rolling his eyes when we confirmed we were related. He finds my brother in the system but he says I'm not on the same account. I say "oh that's weird" and enter my name just in case, meanwhile he says "well it's not so...?" In a condescending tone. I ignore that for time being and move on once he finds me, only talking briefly with my brother about what happened and laughing it off. Until I need to ask a question, even though the answer I had a pretty good idea about. But I ask anyway. "Excuse me sir, is there somewhere here where I could get change for the vending machine?" He said no, as expected, but as I was walking away he decided to be unreasonable and say "Well we aren't a bank!" In a sarcastic way. I wanted to cuss him out right there but there were kids around, so I withheld. I had a similar experience here as well, but in the gym. Excuse me if this is not well written, I'm a little foggy today.

Nice, new facility. The pool was comfortable and warm. Cleanliness could be improved in the showers. I was not impressed with the clientele.

They must have recently changed leadership for the better because this location has really cracked down on checking people as they come in not just for memberships but they make sure they are "safe" people as well which provides an extra sense of security especially with all the small children that use the facility. The swim program has also gotten a major facelift. We have always enjoyed the facility and staff but it really lacked a sense of professionalism especially when it came to the swim program. It is very obvious they have reinvested in their organization and have prioritized safety, and training for staff. The changes are great and we are looking forward to continuing to come here in the future!

It is good family facility. I has a 6 lane swimming pool but lack the space to host competition; not enough deck space. Also lack hot areas, i.e. no sauna or steam.

5 stars for the new facilities, gym adult group classes such as yoga and zumba. 4 stars to swimming lessons logistics, they are somewhat disorganized, they do not always have the kids name attending the different groups, instructors are not always following same cadence.Customer service is THE WORST, there is no way to contact them, they recommend emailing your question and will reply around 48 hours, after 2 weeks I haven't heard anything. I also called them directly and system just allows you to leave a message and supposedly they should contact you back within the same timeframe (48 hours), still no luck.Additionally, for more complex issues, I have been directed with the Membership Supervisor, Diante Logan, whom I have called, emailed and left voicemails and it is the same thing, never ever ever heard back from anyone.Cancelling membership.

If you are a person of color I suggest you only deal with staff who are of color. They are awesome!! The white staff there (especially in the pool area) are rude and obviously racist. Im glad I have a nationwide membership because I definitely won't be back to this location!

Nice clean new gym with swimming area, lockers, showers, small indoor track, two full size basketball courts, several exercise studios, and a plethora of lifting & cardio equipment. Got super friendly service the moment I got there!Ps. All the brand new plumbing makes the water fountains water taste delightfully clean and fresh!
