Master Chung is an amazing teacher, knowledgeable, and always looking to make sure that his students are attending classes and actually learning. For new students, he makes sure that they are able to catch up in both skill and physical health, helping them to tune the class to fit their needs.Unfortunately, AMSEpay, the company he works with/for is Terrible. Until such a time as he is no longer working with AMS, I would recommend against signing up for his classes.

Master Chung cares a lot about his students and is a great instructor. I benefitted so much from his cardio kickboxing class while I went to this gym.

When he was 12 years old I switched my son to Chungs TKD. He had been in a different studio for 6 years and had accomplished a junior black belt. This although, he still fell over when attempting certain moves; it was obvious he did not deserve the status he had been awarded through belt awards by time spent rather than skill mastered. I am a parent who believes in my children earning promotions and rewards through accomplishments and skill, and elected to move to Chung's because it appeared from my visits that Master Chung shared this view in interacting with his students. For the first year my child was not selected to attempt a belt test. He was instructed in the importance of working for the value of accomplishment rather than the expectation of effortless promotion. Master Chung worked with my son to master the skills he had missed at the previous studio and was a hard task master; he helped him to develop a pride in himself through mastery rather than meaningless attributes. Master Chung is a caring Master who works tirelessly to help our children grow into self actualizing adults. He is a firm taskmaster using the training he received while growing up in Korea to benefit his students. Everything I have ever seen him do is to help the growth of his wards. My son is now a young married man with a Masters degree and studying Law at MSU; he is a self actualizing man. The first thing he did when he moved back to attend MSU was to enroll himself and his young wife at Chungs TKD.Nothing more need be said.

Joining Master Chung’s taekwondo class was one of the best decisions I’ve made since moving to East Lansing. Working as a programmer, I don’t get to be too physically active at work and the classes are always a great workout. Master Chung is an excellent instructor who cares about his students well being and while he pushes us to be our best and train hard and takes us out of our comfort zone, he never takes it too far. He does more than just train us physically. Every day at the beginning of class he gives us a philosophical lesson about how we should live our lives according to the tenants of taekwondo and to his Christian beliefs. Outside of Master Chung, his students are some of the kindest and dedicated people I know. The school feels more like a family than it does a mere place to train. If anyone is interested in learning taekwondo in the East Lansing area, I’d highly recommend looking into Chungs Taekwondo and Martial Arts USA.

I send my 3.5 year old girl (the youngest in the class currently) to Master Chung's and she loves it! Master Chung and his instructors are very nice and patient. In the class, the kids learn all-round skills, including attitudes to everyday life. I highly recommend Master Chung's Taekwondo school!

Master Chung's taekwondo has given me the ability to find focus and meaning in my daily routine through life. I am a full-time student that also works full time, but I make it a necessity to attend class regularly so I may accomplish solidarity and explore self-awareness. I have only attended class since June but the long-lasting impact that Master Chung has left on me is a result of his kindness to all of his students, his devotion as a christian, his guidance through his student's mental wellness, life and even my illnesses. Master Chung demonstrates principles that I myself endeavor to spread to those around me, whether it be mother, brother, friend, or stranger. He is an active listener and offers the advice that he thinks is best -- he by no means asserts his opinion, but offers it for thought. He expects obedience and discipline from his students, no matter the age or rank, but also makes jokes and humbles himself in front of his students so that his students never feel inferior. I will continue my life as a martial artist knowing that I have been instructed in how traditional martial arts are meant to be taught. I trust in him to do best by me, my fellow students, and my future children.

Master Chung is the best! He will give you a great workout while also making sure you have fun, and he cares deeply about each and every one of his students. You'd be hard-pressed to find another martial arts school that offers such a great experience. I highly recommend Master Chung's school!

If you want a person who is dedicated towards teaching and towards the students, there is no better teacher than Master Chung. He treats all his students as his own kids and is incredibly compassionate and funny, while being strict where he absolutely needs to be. I have been learning Taekwondo under him for the past half a year and he has been a great teacher and a mentor during that period. Of course, the best part of each and every class is the fun that we end up having along with the knowledge gained. The students are a passionate bunch who love to be there and are encouraging each other to perform better. The best part of each session for me personally is the five minutes of meditation and lecture on Taekwondo philosophy. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Our family loves Master Chung. I met him about 15 years ago when he taught my younger brother. I've always appreciated the way he taught his students discipline and respect. I now have my 7 year old and 4 year old in his classes and he does nothing but exceed my expectations. My oldest has had a rough year and was acting out badly and his influence on her in just a short amount of time is nothing but a miracle. He gives these kids the tough love they need to be the best they can. Master Chung in amazing and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I have been a student of Master Chung for over 14 years, and started with him as a child. He has made a lasting impact in my life, and in many ways has stood as a secondary father figure. Not only is he one of the best martial arts instructors in Michigan (which I can personally attest to having attended other schools prior, and having witnessed other classes, and having competed regionally, nationally, and internationally), but he legitimately cares about his students. Master Chung is always looking out for the best interests of his students, calling when we are sick, asking about our school or jobs, and offering advice on how to be better people in our lives. As a devout christian, and advocate for the tenants of Taekwondo, Master Chung treats everyone with courtesy, and respect. In addition, he tries to elicit and foster those characteristics in his students, as well as discipline, dedication and focus. Master Chung expects that his students give their all in class, regardless of skill level or age. As an instructor in a traditional Korean martial art, he sometimes resorts to different techniques to encourage this dedication, from doing pushups (it is a workout class! ;) ) to jokingly referencing the fact that he is not a school teacher, and that one of the perks of teaching a martial art is that he can yell and kick butt! Occasionally a light jab at said fatty regions (no damage here!) accompanies these jokes, but that is all they are. It is obvious to all of his students that he is only joking, and although the nature of such a class is physical, he would never hurt a student, and takes additional precautions to make sure that all of his students are safe in class.Master Chung is one of the best people that I know. He has struggled through his life to become this amazing person, and I respect him more than anyone else I have ever met. It is because of him that I am the person that I am today.
