It's difficult to exaggerate how much benefit I have received from my six+ years learning martial arts from Master Chung. Let's put it this way ... when I started - I was 43 years old - I couldn't even sit cross-legged without throwing my back out for a month, and that is no exaggeration. Roll the clock forward, in two weeks I test for my black-belt, and in all this time I have not been injured once ... and sitting cross-legged is my most comfortable position! But for all the benefit I have received as a middle-aged man from his unique blend of skill, kindness, toughness and dedication to his craft, what Master Chung achieves with the children, teenagers and young adults is nothing short of miraculous to watch. The transformation that occurs as young people move through the colored belt system under his guidance is amazing; from jittery and wandering, to focused and calm; from impudent and boundary-less to respectful and safe; from meek or acting out to confident and articulate (and as he often points out through entertaining stories of his youth, he started out himself as the worst kind of young punk!). It takes time, but from my observation over the years, this transformation is nearly inevitable. It's a pleasure to see these young people mature, and touching to see the appreciation on the parents' faces.Personally, I am busy, naturally curious and unfocused, I lack discipline, I'm full of excuses ... when it comes to my health. Business-wise, I'm a success. So I am particularly grateful that Master Chung has stuck with me, never shaming me, never forgetting that I am person, not just a customer and student. He's the coach I needed when I was 10!If you have tried martial arts before or thought about it because you have an attraction to it for some reason, as I did; but have been unable to find a place that feels right, as I was; I encourage you to give Master Chung a try. He is different, and he is the real deal. He manages to translate the eastern values inherent in martial arts in a way that is simultaneously authentic and comfortable for westerners and native Asians alike. And he makes it fun. Oh ... and you learn how to kick some serious ass if, god-forbid, you ever need to.Jump in, I'm certain you won't regret it.

Joining Master Chung's classes was one of the best decisions I have made. The work outs are tough and you will feel stronger and more flexible fast. The best part though, is the culture and philosophy that he teaches along with the physical training. :)

Master Chung's school is amazing. The people that go there are incredibly nice and you get an amazing workout. I go to one of the Taekwondo classes, and honestly this is the best one I've been to. I was at a different school before I moved here and then I tried out multiple other schools before I chose this one. It was a great descision!

I have been coming to Chung's Taekwondo and Martial Arts for about three years. When we moved to the area, my teenage son, a black belt in Taekwondo, and I were seeking a Dojang in which we would be comfortable. After taking classes from a few instructors, we settled on Master Chung. I was doubtful about his style at first - he is challenging and believes in discipline. However, I have since learned that he is also a compassionate, entertaining and inspiring instructor. He teaches every class - both Taekwondo and cardio kickboxing. He practices the disciplines with the students - demonstrating along the way.His classes are varied and he challenges all his students - but never beyond what he knows they can achieve. The community of students is welcoming, friendly and supportive. I expect to stay with Chung's Martial Arts and Taekwondo for years to come, and I invite you to join us!

HE DID NOT FORCE ME TO WRITE THIS REVIEWJust kidding)) Honestly, I'm third year international student at MSU and Master Chung is like deputy father for me. He is not only great martial arts teacher, he is also supportive mentor and hearty person. Although, his style of teaching is traditional, which requires a lot of discipline and concentration, he never puts excessive pressure on students. Thus, he would definitely open the doors, but you will be the one who enters.

My daughter has trained at Chung's Taekwondo since she was 4 years old. She is currently 11 and I have to say that I do not think she would have gotten the same experience at any other material arts school in the area. Master Chung is excellent with children of all ages and provides the perfect mix of discipline, encouragement and fun. I have no trouble providing this strong recommendation to anyone who is thinking about martial arts for their child or themselves.

I joined Chung's Taekwondo about a month ago in order to work on my fitness level and return to martial arts (I studied Kenpo for three years as a teenager) and I believe that I couldn't have made a better choice. Master Chung is an excellent educator and is able, and above all willing, to break down techniques and practices into individual pieces to ensure that you are proficient at every aspect. His method of teaching focuses on technique, accuracy, a healthy mindset and fitness. When first starting I was all but wiped out from the warm up and then we moved into technique training now, weeks later, the warm ups are just as intensive (if not more) but I know that my fitness level is increasing.I strongly encourage anyone interested in Taekwondo (or martial arts in general) and getting in shape to visit Chung's Taekwondo.

Master Chung is one of the greatest men I have ever met. I was scared at first, coming to the class, thinking I have no experience, so I would suck really bad! I did suck, but Master Chung is an amazing teacher, and can get anyone to a higher level. He will work with your personally to improve on things you need help with. He is very easy to approach and talk to, so don't be afraid to ask him with help on anything. And I mean anything. If you have personal problems, he will listen and try his best to help in anyway possible. While very nice, he can be stern when needed to- all just to push you , so you can exceed your own expectations. I have only been at this school for 6 months, and I have learned so much from Master Chung and others who attend this school (we are all like a big family). I have also gained so much more confidence in myself, thanks to this school! It would be very wise to come learn from Master Chung! Bonus, he is very handsome, so you will have something nice to always look at in class :) !

I have been a student of Chung's Taekwondo for several years now. Master Chung epitomizes all of the elements of the Tenants of Taekwondo, which are: Courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and an indomitable spirit. He is personally involved with each of his classes on a daily basis and demonstrates great concern for each one of his students development. We are all individuals and as such we tend to develop our skills and inner-strengths at different paces. Some of us need more time and encouragement than others. I have seen Master Chung take that time and patients with his students. He seems to believe in us before we believe in ourselves...and he holds on to that belief until we as students believe it also.Master Chung's motto is: "You can do it!" His students who truly believe know, "Yes, I can!"

I joined Master Chung's taekwondo class about a month ago and I love it. Master Chung is a great teacher he puts a lot of effort in teachig every class and makes sure you learn the proper form of the techniques he teaches you. The classes are challenging, he pushes you to do your best but without putting pressure on you. If you are serious about learning taekwondo this is the right place. He is a very nice person and I would reccomend to join his classes to anyone.
