Okay I will be the first one to admit that I do not like exercise of any kind. However, back and stress issues and the persistent recommendation of my doctor to find and stay with some sort of activity, led me to try pilates at Embody Movement Pilates. Becky is the instructor for the group reformer pilates class that I take. Two words - LOVE IT! I actually look forward to going. The class size is small, the instructor Becky is actively engaged in making sure that you are doing it right, and understands how to modify the moves if you need an accommodation. My stress level has started to lessen as well. If you are a beginner, don't hesitate to take a pilates class at Embody Movement Pilates Studio. I wish I had started sooner.

I have been dealing with a very stiff neck and shoulders for several months. Sometimes the pain is enough to make me not want to go to class, but every time I go, I leave feeling so much better. And it’s not just because I worked out, it’s because the workout loosened me up; I wish I could have class everyday.

I've been exercising since I was 15 years old. I am now a 50 year old male and thought I was in pretty good physical condition until my back went out. I spent 8 weeks in physical therapy and still could not relieve the back pain. Finally, I signed up with Sarah de Guia for a package of Pilates lessons. Almost immediately I began to feel better and see results. Sarah's training and experience is as impressive as anyone i've known in the health and fitness field. She has over 500 hours of training and is someone who constantly stays educated with the latest body movement concepts. Every training session is tailored to address my weaknesses or needs. I beleive the philosopy used in the studio can benefit anyone but especially men in my age group who have some type of cronic issue like a back, hip or neck problem. These are pains we just think become part of daily lives. Sarah has helped me "reclaim" my body movement. In fact, I cannot wait to start playing golf and running again this summer with the new range and flexibility I have.Thank you Sarah,Mike DeBella

I have been training at Embody Movement Pilates for over a year and a half. I wanted to do a work out that was gentle on my joints and body and yet effective. I've seen great improvement in my posture, my strength, and especially core strength. I'm enrolled in a small reformer class so our instructor, Sarah, is able to give each one of us a lot of attention. There are people in my class, including me, who have different joint issues. However, Sarah is a wonderful technician and tailors each movement to any particular issues. She exhibits a profound knowledge of Pilates. I also find the class a mental vacation from the stresses of work! I've taken a few classes from Becky and she, too, is marvelous. I highly recommend this studio to anyone interested in improving their strength and flexibility.

I've been taking Pilates with Sarah at Embody Movement Pilates since 2009. Wow! And I can't even imagine life without it!Since I'm now in my 60s, there are a lot of body changes that seem to be happening .... bone on bone knees, sore hips, less flexibility. Sarah creates a Pilates routine to address my specific concerns. And while she gets me to focus on my core always, when golf season rolls around we amp up the focus on rotation and work on the pieces that make for a good golf swing. I tend to work at a desk and get hunched and tight. I have never left the studio without a wonderful sense of being 'stretched out.' I always feel about 2" taller when I walk out than when I walked in! She has really helped me with awareness of my posture, my flexibility and balance.Sarah is a great listener and has much empathy for her students. She's a continual student herself. Her interest and knowledge about anatomy always amaze me. I appreciate that she uses it to consider my body as a whole. She's helped me understand more about how seemingly unrelated body parts can affect knee pain - and how specific exercises can help ease that pain.I would definitely recommend Embody Movement Pilates Studio - they're a dedicated studio that has been around for quite a while. They offer workshops and classes so there's a form of Pilates for everyone.
