I am new to yoga and started my journey here. I was worried about how approachable the classes would be since I didn't know anything but the instructors were amazing and super helpful!Kristen's Tuesday classes are my favorite. It's a very lively and fun class and a great way to end your evening.Marlene's restorative classes on Mondays are soo relaxing! If you're a beginner I would recommend trying out the gentle and restorative classes first. It helped me familiarize with common poses.

I have been searching for a yoga studio ever since I moved back to CT in 2018. Walking into Breathing Room, I knew I'd finally found it. The small shop in the lobby is very cute and the studio space itself is completely relaxing. I took a class with Marlene and was so grateful for how comfortable she made me feel. She consistently gave us alternative options for poses in a very natural way. At the end of the practice, she acknowledged yoga's origin and gave thanks for all the teachers before us. It was a subtle moment but very impactful.I am very aware of the cultural appropriation surrounding yoga and I'm so grateful to have found a studio that is actively doing better. I obsessively read their website before signing up for the 2 week trial and attending class. I was not disappointed. You wont be either!

I have had such an amazing experience at Breathing Room since first entering “the Hearth” in early October. From the attentiveness of the teachers to the inspirational space, this studio’s energy has helped me grow my practice on and off the mat. The community is inclusive, the classes are challenging and accessible, so for anyone who wants to expand their practice or start as a new student, it’s a place that’s hard to compare to other studio, and I have been to many. Thank you Breathing Room for showing up when I needed a place to practice in CT!

Having been a member for over two years now, I can honestly say, I have never felt more at home in the beautiful environment that has been thoughtfully curated at The Breathing Room in New Haven CT. It is welcoming and encourages the coming together of a diverse community. From the front boutique entry on the 2nd floor of 216 Crown Street, where you are always greeted by a smiling friendly staff member. Through the common areas and cozy Den library, to each of the three main studios. You are surrounded by gracious teachers and mentor figures, in the pursuit of guiding the yoga and all it's facets that apply to bringing it into your daily life. The collective of students, reflects the special energy The Breathing Room so generously provides in studio, outdoors or virtual classes and events. I have much gratitude to Margot and my inspiring teachers and fellow students, and pray we remain in sacred community for many more years to come!

My practice has improved for me because of every class is led with care and expertise so that I have become stronger and more confident no matter who is teaching the class. The studio is gorgeous, Kirk's parking lot is so convenient that I can arrive a few minutes before class begins and be relaxed and ready to drop into myself. No matter what age you are, you can get so much out of your practice with Breathing Room.

Breathing Room was one of the first yoga spots that I tried when I moved to New Haven from Philadelphia. I was a little overwhelmed, as I was more used to much smaller yoga studios, but this has quickly become my yoga home. The space is absolutely beautiful, and I really love the variety of classes and times. I feel like there is always something different to try. The teachers are always compassionate, and the staff at the front desk is friendly. The teachers always teach to what my spirit, body and mind need most at the time, while still holding space for everyone.I always look forward to learning more about myself and my yoga practice through their classes and workshops. I highly recommend The Breathing Room to yogis of all levels.

LOVE the new space. In the big room, we had our workshop, and it had such a warmth - and despite the fact we had a large attendance in class- the acoustical layout of the room, it still felt intimate. The renovations embraced the character of the building - from the large accents like the huge fireplaces- down to the details. Can’t wait to come back for another class soon. Great job Margot!

This is my favorite place. I have the opportunity to come here just a few times a year, but every time I do, I have the best experience. I live in Brooklyn and travel for work, and have not found anything that comes close to Breathing Room Yoga. The space itself is welcoming and has a truly smart, lovely and open design. The community is small enough that you are not overwhelmed in a herd (like in NYC) and you get a lot of personal attention because of that. Margot's classes are challenging, stimulating, and just plain fun. Her presence is always centering and I find the greatest focus, mentally and physically, in this studio. It is very drop-in friendly with reasonable prices and no mat 'rental fee'; it has a nice website so you can buy and book ahead of time. Very thankful for this studio.
