As a 300 RYT myself I have been to numerous studios all over CT and explicitly in the New Haven area. This is an amazing studio with exceptional teachers. The studio is not glamorized with essential oils and designer yoga clothes and I find it extremely sad that is becoming a "norm". This is a real yoga studio that is not just out for your money but really has an intention to further knowledge and practice. I highly recommend it to anyone and especially to those who want to experience an authentic practice.

If you can swing it financially, I highly recommend taking classes here. I've been to classes by 5 or so instructors here, and all were top notch. I took a really fun, challenging vinyasa, several Forrest Yoga classes (a whole different approach to posture for me, with an emphasis on opening up and really lifting the chest and keeping the toes wide), and one or two Yin yoga classes (very challenging, requiring long periods in one pose). The Forrest classes are done *slightly* warm (not hot), which I thought I would hate, but it helped keep me limber and focused. They sometimes offer free Forrest courses during their training periods. Well worth checking out.

Fresh Yoga is my home studio. In any other place -- from Kripalu to California, Boulder to Bali -- I have always felt completely prepared for the instruction, and able to access the asanas. True that some teachers chant Om & some don't, but all lead intelligent, insightful practices. Thank you, Fresh. :)

I disagree with all of the negative reviews on this site. I have been practicing yoga for over 12 years and have attended Fresh for about 8. There is no studio in the country like Fresh. I have 4 teacher trainings under my belt and have been to many studios in Manhattan, Florida (where I was when I started yoga) and all over CT. Fresh is the only studio with such a diversity of teachers, styles, and classes. I unfortunately moved further from New Haven than I'd like to be, but will still not go anywhere else. Even if it means doing more yoga on my own. Classes here are not formula, teachers come from all different walks of life, and the atmosphere is just "real." if you want music, you can get music; if you don't, plenty of classes have no music. Heat: we got it. No heat... that's available too. whether its vinyasa, yin, or hatha, you can find it here. Good yoga is expensive, but I'd rather pay $20 for one great class than $20 for 5 crappy ones in uncomfortable environments.

I have been practicing yoga for almost 20 years now (7 years at Fresh) and travel an hour and fifteen minutes each way to attend weekly classes there. This past year, at 61, I have successfully rehabbed a full hip replacement under the guidance of Heidi Sormaz, owner and teacher at Fresh. Heidi handpicks her instructors based on her own high standards of experience, skill and dedication to the practice. At Fresh Yoga you will learn to breathe through challenging, interesting classes that are safe at every level. If you are looking to deepen your practice, mindfully, and expand yourself, I highly recommend trying Fresh. In my opinion it is the best yoga studio in CT.

Fresh Yoga has the best teachers in the New Haven area; very knowledgeable and helpful no matter what your level of practice. There are a variety of classes to choose from, at various times of day and at both locations (they have two studios). I practice at Fresh regularly and highly recommend the studio to anyone interested in trying yoga or more experienced folks.

I have found Fresh Yoga to be a "full service" yoga studio. They offer classes in many different types of yoga styles. This allows me to learn from different modalities of practice in order to better myself. I like the fact that there are always special events going on, which feature many nationally recognized instructors. The staff of instructors are the best in the area. If you take time to talk with them, you would find they have themselves been practicing for many years. I like thisthey can help me meet my challenges in my own practice because they have many of their own experiences from which to draw upon to help me.I believe there is no place in the New Haven metropolitan area that can offer such a wide variety and a consistent high quality level of instruction. This is the place I choose to develop mind, body and spirit.

If you don't expect much, you will not be disappointed in Fresh. A few teachers are good, most are average. You will practice yoga here, but you will not deepen or refine it. No teacher provides physical corrections or extensive tips on alignment, positioning, etc. Most do the same each session each time, with little variation or creativity. And they have an unkind policy on class cards--no matter how good the reason if you don't use them by expiration date, you lose them--no exceptions. The two locations make Fresh attractive but it is a distant second to the other major studio in town--Breathing Room

Once you start practicing at Fresh Yoga, you will have a hard time going to any other Yoga studio in New Haven and Fairfield County CT. Simply the best place I have practiced Yoga in CT!Fresh Yoga is as close to a perfect Yoga class I have experienced! I have practiced Yoga for 15+ Years, IMO It's like Skiing in Colorado (Breckenridge) for a week and coming back to Ski in Vermont, both good both different, just a bit more polished and the powder puts you over the top pun intended! Seriously, take one of Peg's classes and you'll understand what I am saying! She is a Rock Star/ Guru..... Thanks Fresh for saving me a trip, the gas, the train ride, to NYC!

I am glad I stayed for the yoga class because Julie is an excellent teacher (I almost walked out while trying to pay for the class). My girlfriend and I attend yoga classes regularly and I have never been more turned off by the front desk staff than at Fresh Yoga. When we first walked in they were not very welcoming - my girlfriend showed her student ID and the staff argued that it was expired...for a lousy $4 discount on a $19 class. When my girlfriend paid for her class another worker pronounced "best deal ever". NO I have been to many many many great $8-$15 classes. The yoga was great but unfortunately not worth interacting with the unfriendly management. Unimpressed with the first impression.
