Raw and pure gym, with a knowledgeable instructors, one of whom is helping me achieve my functional strength, mobility, and flexibility goals. The gym has a locker room, showers, and toilet facilities. It also features, self defense, and martial arts classes, to name a few other aspects that I have witnessed, but won't do justice by trying to describe them all...😁. I would definitely recommend, for anyone not into the 'mainstream' gym stereotypes, but will enjoy the atmosphere and realize results all the same.

I've been a member of Cypress since day 1 and can't express how much they've changed my life. I love the friendly and funny staff. They really make you feel like family and care so much about your progress and goals. I never really liked group fitness but now I know it's because I've never found the perfect fit till Cypress Fitness. The facility has great equipment and I love the cleanliness. Even when we are having fun during the workout, they still know how to challenge you and make sure that you get your sweat in. Definitely my number 1 gym in Nola BY FAR! I couldn't be where I'm at in health and fitness without you guys!! I would give 10 stars if I could!

Fantastic gym with attentive trainers, convenient class times, and great pricing structure. Class sizes are kept to a comfortable limit and each class always has fresh challenges. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants a full body workout without the pretentiousness and congestion of other gyms.

Truly superb. I had never done classes before, but I'm hooked, plus I go all the time just to use the open gym (which comes with the reasonably priced classes). This is NOT a place with a bunch of gimmicky add-ons like fancy new cardio machines promising weight loss in no time, tanning booths, or hot stone massages. This is a place where regular, motivated folk go to get solid exercise. The trainers are fantastic, and they really hold the place together. Even if you're exercising alone, they'll never hesitate to answer questions or give you form recommendations if you want, but they're also never intrusive. I think it stands as a testimony to the trainers' skill that the gender ratio is pretty even in the classes, i.e. they manage to create an positive, serious, but not intimidating atmosphere. Other people in the classes are unanimously friendly (I get my movie and football news during the warm up, usually). Overall, I feel like I spend less time and mental effort exercising but I'm in better shape.

I started with Cypress Fitness in April 2012. At the time I was recovering from treatments for breast cancer. I was diagnosed back in February 2011, and after a lumpectomy, I received both chemotherapy and radiation treatments. One year after diagnosis, I was looking for a way to increase my stamina and balance, as I had bouts of neuropathy caused by the chemotherapy treatment. When I heard that a new fitness space on Tchoupitoulas was offering introductory Tai Chi classes, I decided to try it out. At the time I weighed approximately 230 lbs. and was having increasing issues with balance and stamina. I also had arthritis in my knees which was growing more painful. My first Tai Chi class was on April 3, 2012. Brian Adams, the class trainer, had me fill out the pre-enrollment form that asked about my movement history and any medical problems I might have. He then discussed these with me. Since that day Brian, Brandon Bergeron, and all the trainers at Cypress Fitness have always found ways to help me adjust my work with them so I could get maximum benefit while ensuring that I avoided further damage to my joints. I enjoy the classes, which are always different formats, making workouts fun and stimulating, and not the typical “grind” found at most health clubs. From Tai Chi I continued on to Kettlebell workouts and metabolic classes. I have also competed in Kettlebell competition and the Precision Nutrition program. I continue to practice Tai Chi, learning four different forms. With the guidance of the Cypress Fitness Staff, I currently weigh 183 lbs. and can almost deadlift my own weight (currently at 155 lbs.). During these past 3+ years, I have had other medical issues turn up (full mastectomy and knee surgery), yet I’ve always returned to Cypress Fitness afterward ready to work, and the staff was ready to work with me.The lesson I’ve learned at Cypress Fitness is that if I am willing to put in the work, the staff will do whatever they can to work with me. And the results I have seen in myself (and which they have helped me achieve), encourage me to continue to be strong, build muscle, and eat healthy.

Wish I could pack this gym up and put it in my pocket to take with me anywhere! Only got to work out here for a summer while doing an internship in town, but they certainly set my standards for gyms very high. I have never found trainers/instructors more dedicated to making sure you are safe while pushing yourself. A thorough stretch session at the beginning, demonstrations of proper form of all workouts before beginning, corrections to your form while you're training, and then finishing it off with more stretches is their protocol and I wish other gyms would take note. Even the clientele is friendly! Do yourself a favor and sign up for a session!

I've attended classes and personal training here and could write a rave review about them, but I'd like to specifically review the Precision Nutrition program with Brian. This has actually been a life-changing experience - I've learned so much along the way, and Brian is endlessly supportive and responsive to questions anytime. He sends out ideas, shares recipes and shopping tips, and sets tough but achievable goals that focus on different pieces of the nutrition puzzle and are personalized for each client. And now I have the numbers to prove it - not only have I lost weight, but I had a health screening just before starting the Precision Nutrition program and I had "high risk" numbers on my total cholesterol, triglycerides, and the ratio of good-to-bad cholesterol (TC/HDL ratio). Today, well into the Nutrition program, I was re-tested and ALL of my numbers had plummeted into the "desirable" levels. My health insurance company is thrilled with me, and I was so happy I wanted to share my results here. I definitely recommend working with Brian on Nutrition for anyone interested in improving their relationship with food and their overall health and well-being.

Hi my name is Michael. I'm a chiropractic physician in my mid 40's. My whole practice has been about helping people improve the function of their bodies and improving their health and lifestyle. Well they say Dr's make the worst patients and I was in that club. Through time I developed a sedentary lifestyle and got to the point that I was winded going up a flight of stairs. I had become obese and my diet was horrible. In fact I thought I was at the point of no return and would not be able to do any activities even if I would try. One day my business partner told me about this new gym that had opened in his neighborhood. It sounded different than the basic weight machines and treadmills which I always have dreaded using (That's why I was in the bad shape I was in). So I mustered up the courage to give it a try. After a basic assessment my first class was with Caroline. She is a very challenging and high energy instructor and I was a little intimidated seeming like I was older and more out of shape than the other people in the class. I gave it my best shot and Caroline was supportive and helped me build up the confidence to work through the activities. That day started a whole new lifestyle for me. Since then in addition to Caroline, I have worked with Brian, Brandon, Lauren, and Shamus all of which have their own unique training styles and motivation. I can say that the diversity is enriching and I have had the opportunity to learn different things from them all. My endurance level has vastly improved and my strength seems at least 3-4 times of what it was before. I have gained muscle mass and lost fat and inches. I feel like I am back to the days of my 20's on activity level. In essence I am a happier healthier person. I have made Cypress Fitness an important part of my lifestyle as well as diet. Am I perfect?.....no. Do I still have goals I want to reach?......yes. I feel like that as long as I attend my scheduled classes I will reach all my goals. Thanks again to the fine friendly staff at Cypress Fitness for helping me change my life.Dr. Michael Brantmeier, D.C.Owner of Louisiana Rehabilitation and Spine Institute LLC

I attended a recent Saturday morning Circuit Training class and loved it. It was very hard! But I felt great afterward and worked out waaay harder than I would have had I just gone to the gym on my own.The studio is big. The trainers are friendly. The exercises are fun. And if you get the trial pass, it's only $30 for three classes. They offer circuit training, TRX, yoga, kettlebell, Tai Chi and more. There were both guys and ladies in the class, with everyone aged in their 30's or younger.
