This place is amazing. I’ve been training with the owner, Shawn Gayton, for about two months and I’ve already learned so much. Senior students are more than happy to help junior students. It’s a pretty informal environment. There are many high level fighters who train at this gym. This place is full of knowledge. I personally have only practiced Jiu Jitsu here (both gi and no gi). They also offer “striking” classes as well as wrestling and conditioning. If you’re looking for an environment where you are supported by your teammates, make some friends, get in shape, and absolutely slay at Jiu Jitsu, I highly recommend checking out Mid-City MMA.

We were in town visiting for the holiday. We stopped by for a nogi class with Shawn and it did not disappoint. He was technical, fun and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone beginner to advanced.

Shawn and his crew were incredibly accommodating for me as an out of town guest. Very systematic training methodology that I learned a lot from in my two days training there.

I have had the pleasure of calling this place home and where my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey began in 2011. I have had the honor of training all over the world because of my military background, but it was hard finding a gym like this one. …
